Trumps a bloody idiot, does he not realise how much it would take to move a supply chain that relies on a hell of a lot of different companies in a lot of different countries. The logistics, while not impossible, would take a decade or more to move everything, and it would cost an astronomical amount of money.

I thought Trump was supposed to be a businessman, but it's easy to see why he went bankrupt 6 times, absolutely delusional clown.

Trump was never a businessman per se. Unless those folks that used to sell amazing healing potions out of the back of their traveling wagons were also businessmen. His goal isn't to do good for America but rather have the appearance of someone fighting for America -- the former requires lots of work and lots of time to get results while the latter is about the immediate impression his followers get of him.

Because the UK is currently such a shining example of leadership and successful policies…occupying much of the known civilized world and being reduced to some islands no larger than an average single state in the United States…leadership and successful policies, indeed 👏

Trump is and always has been a huckster, but, unfortunately, he is really good at the spiel and grift. And our electorate is far too gullible.

Who said work can’t be boring and repetitive? Almost no one goes to work bc it’s fun. Such a ridiculous notion lol
I think you missed part of the OP’s comment, work can absolutely be boring and repetitive (and dangerous btw, factory floors can have horrific accidents) but if you want to get and retain people for that kind of work you have to pay decently. The golden era of US manufacturing also was the golden era of union labor in this country for a reason

Unfortunately, we have our own clown of a PM who can't do anything right.

Every single empire eventually declines, even Rome, even the Brits, and yes, even us.

FWIW it’s worth noting that there’s an argument to be made that the “pax americana” that seems to be ending now and the US’ “empire of bases” was and is a direct extension of the British Empire and that history will treat the UK and the US the way we view the Byzantines (the eastern roman empire) and Rome today, 1000 years from now history may not regard the end of the British empire as the full end of the British imperial era

It could be worse, you could still have a worse fool like Liz Truss... who wrote a guest op-ed here in the Washington Post this week praising Trump and complaining about how the "elites" in the UK shut her down from doing the same. LOL.

Unfortunately, we have our own clown of a PM who can't do anything right.

Yup, and many of the internationals here may not know that every time he goes on a helicopter ride to golf locally or to get to AF one to fly off for golf they shut down departing commercial flights from and divert incoming flights to National Airport causing all sorts of chaos. Ask me how I know.

Without commenting directly on the positives or negatives to tariffs (good idea or bad idea)… no position taken:

I think if you’re going to have tariffs, they should apply equally across the board. Because: (a) otherwise I don’t think they can work as represented (I’m not saying they do or don’t work); and (b) if ‘the people’ do or don’t like tariff policy, and the results, neither side can really express it with fair footing, unless it applies to all equally.

And so, good or bad, that would include Apple.

And without having to debate the seriously dubious case for tariffs, I will note that NOTHING Trump does is fair and across the board. Every action he takes is targeted at his perceived enemies, at those who praise him or grovel insufficiently, or simply to enrich himself and his family.

Has he ordered Elon to move Tesla production out of China? I thought not.

The difference is there’s production in Fremont, california and Austin, Texas. The US made cars are for the North American market. Tesla has production in China to satisfy the pan-Asian market and production in Germany to satisfy the European market. Where’s Apple’s production in the US?

But, but, but if Tesla exported them to China we would make MORE here. Oh, the Chinese don't want that?? Does that sound familiar??
