We'll see. Here's what I know for sure: one side says one thing to support their view, opinion, and narrative, and the other side does the same for their own. That is, one side says Trump's getting a jet as a personal gift, the other says "no, Qatar is giving it to the US Government it's not the same thing".

It sounds like technically it would have to be given to or "provided" to the government for it to be legal.

Yes it may be legal. I love when customers not only spend billions on my partners products but also give half a billion of "gifts" to my executive team. What was negotiated beyond buying the planes? Because usually all this comes with a price. I guess my question is, how does this kind of behavior is a sign of respect to the American Democracy, .... Americans in general?

For decades past US presidents have allowed US manufacturing companies to shutdown manufacturing and have them start up in a foreign country, namely China because it's cheap to operate in China than it is in the US and thus it means more profits that go to feed the wage packets of the CEO's and other senior executives and large dividends to the shareholders and all this at the expense of US workers. Over the decades millions of US people have lost their jobs because US companies have left the US to start up in cheaper countries. A lot of well made products that lasted a long time now being made in countries where the quality is not so good with the product not lasting as long as it once did.

MR members that are in the US and are in here condemning Trump I seriously do not understand why because all he is doing is trying to bring back to the country what US business owners took away from it, jobs and money, money that get's fed back into the country rather than in a foreign country. The US used to pride itself on the words 'Made in the USA'. Over the decades I and many others I know had purchased 'Made in the USA' because the quality was excellent. Now very little has 'Made in the USA' stamped on it, whilst being US owned it now has 'Made in China', products that no longer have the quality they used to.

Why are the majority of US members in here so dead against wanting to have manufacturing brought back to the US?

It would probably be legal if donated to the Department of Defense. The question is whether it would remain under them or be transferred to Trump in some fashion. That would be likely illegal.

IMHO the legality aspects are not really the issue as sometimes even if you can it doesn't mean you should.

As example, those who argue it's OK would have had the same opinion if the gift was made to Biden during his administration? My guess is the opinion in that scenario would have been "hell no, that's 100% corruption".

When are people going to realise that Trump is a lying imbecile and the Republicans haven't historically been fantastic for the economy, at least certainly as far as the rank and file are concerned?
This would first require people to look at data and information- we don’t do that in the “Information Age”. We just bicker on the internet instead lol

Mainly we're against paying significantly more for spatulas and iPhones than we do now.

This is the thing Trump supporters cannot seem to understand. They assume that bringing large scale manufacturing back to the U.S will maintain current pricing. For that to happen American workers would have to accept third world wages, something they would never accept. Even if they did they then would not be able to afford the very things they are manufacturing.

Either Trump really doesn’t understand how things work (very likely) or really doesn’t give a damn as long as he and his ilk are getting rich (also very likely). The effects of their actions are already playing out: the U.S. is being isolated as other countries pivot to their own advantage and Americans are facing ever higher prices, inflation and increasing shortage of goods. Their general quality of life will also suffer as government services, benefits and assistance are drastically curtailed.

The overriding message here is the current regime doesn’t really give a damn about the American people. They’re out to line their own pockets and take the U.S. back to the robber baron era of the 19th century.

Trump: Tim, you did say thank you and did wear suit, but I am very smart and I have cards, but you do not have cards....... Listen, build more manufacturing plants in USA.

Was pondering if Trump is a Narcissist, and thought that must been mentioned somewhere if that's the case. Oh yeah, but it seems like he is a Solipsist. I've never heard of that concept before. Narcissists I havd have encountered however. Interesting read.

Good. Selling dirt cheap Indian or dirt cheap Chinese phones for $1500 is a scam. It should be priced like an Indian and / or Chinese phone.

No wonder Apple is the richest company in the world selling dirt cheap Chinese and / or dirt cheap Chinese phones.

Look at how cheap Chinese products are on AliExpress and Temu. These "American products" don't need to be $1500 at all. It's cheap Chinese stuff they are selling for $$$$$ so that CEO's can have huge bonusses.

The only way to justify these $1500 price tags if they are made in the USA.

And Trump voters are highly educated young males with huge student debts who cannot find a job due to outsourcing, DEI and importing cheap labor. They don't care if you have to pay a bit more for your iPhone.

No.

There is that but we should at least have the option to ignore it.

Don't worry folks. Just 3.5 more years of this utter nonsense and then hopefully back to some semblance of normality.

I'm honestly concerned that, even if the pendulum swings the other way (should it be allowed to), the other guy/gal might also be completely insane.

Suppose we'll just have to wait and see. At this rate who knows if we'll be around as a species in 3.5 years!

MAGA, are you excited to have any hope of upward mobility totally gone and get locked into plant work for eternity?

Your family fixes the machines forever, while someone else’s kids build empires.

The caste system reborn for a modern age.

“This is the new model, where you work in these plants for the rest of your life, and your kids work here, and your grandkids work here,” U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick says.

Quite the opposite. Will go down as the best president in yours and my lifetime. Exciting to witness all of the success!!!
no disrespect but you are whats wrong with this country.. what success has he had? please explain hes a immature little brat when things don't go his way he whines like a 2 year old and then threaten to jail them

It's astounding how it's always someone else's fault for one's lack of success.

The truth is, in general, actual successful people were successful before Trump, will likely still be successful with Trump, would still be successful had Kamala become president and will still likely be successful with whoever comes after Trump.

On the other side, in general, unsuccessful people were unsuccessful before Trump, will likely still be unsuccessful with Trump, would still be unsuccessful had Kamala become president and will still likely be unsuccessful with whoever comes after Trump.

The mentality of "it's not my fault I'm not successful, the president needs to fix this" is very likely the very reason those people don't have the success they feel entitled to. As long as they keep that mentality they are unlikely to turn their situation around no matter who they vote in office.

A voice of reason. Praise the heavens. No self-accountability anymore, it’s always someone else’s fault they can’t do this or can’t do that.
