Am I the only one who reads these threads and laughs AT the threadstarter? Any thread that has the phrase "Steve Jobs would have..." or "Steve Jobs wouldn't have..." or "Steve wanted..." or anything like that just make me laugh at people. Unless you have a handwritten piece of paper with his signature saying what he would have /wouldn't have /wanted to have done, you don't know.

I just laugh cause these threads are SO serious like they're the truth and are written like the person was the mans personal assistant. It's hilarious.

+100

Truth is, SJ was so damn unpredictable and volatile, that he probably couldn't even predict himself. Yet everyone on these boards acts like he was their beer drinking high five'ing buddy. It is so dorky

For those among us who are in communication with Steve Jobs, I have some questions I would like to submit to him. They're kind of personal, but since he has the wisdom of the god's, I'm sure he can answer them.

So those of you who speak for him, and therefore must be in communication with him...let me know how I can get in touch with you so I can attend the next seance.

Thank you for your kind attention this this matter...

:rolleyes::D

I think anyone can see that he was much more concerned with producing and selling a quality produce and user experience above ALL ELSE.

This often cited statement... is how it was only _most_ of the time.

Despite the worshipers wanting to put him on a pedestal and cite his superiority, if he wanted to provide an excellent customer experience he would have listened when his customers complained about problems.

Instead he was extremely arrogant and "in your face" if you so much as mentioned a fault. All one has to do is ask someone who works for Apple and knows what went on behind closed doors.

Even in public... his response to the well documented, (even within Apple, discovered prior to release) faulty antenna on the iPhone 4.

When asked, Steve's response was a very combative, arrogant "you're holding it wrong" comment, suggesting Apple's customers are idiots that do not know how to hold a cell phone.

The worshipers took him at his word, as gospel, then attacked anyone who reported they were experiencing the problem. Those brainwashed to believe that "Apple does no wrong", went down in history as vehemently denying the problem, and spewing venom at anyone who said otherwise.

The good news, is the man at the helm today is devoid of any such immature antics which get in the way of good customer relations.

He's already calmed the waters, and if he would have been in charge a year earlier, I do not believe Apple would have launched the barrage of negative law suits.

Tim Cook is not vindictive or self centered, he's a businessman that knows how to interact with people without talking down to them to feed his ego.

His true talent in a variety of areas has already shown that Apple can be every bit as successful if not more by acting like a professional.

I don't think you know Jobs that well...He himself was conflicted between his need for perfection in his products vs. shipping on time (see - Mac vs. Lisa) and I'm more than a little sure that his failing health at the end of his life while still feeling the need to be in control over every aspect of production caused smaller delays that have thrown the original iPhone launch schedule out of whack.

I'm certainly not claiming to know the man, however Apple would NOT be in the position they are in without him (and will certainly fall a fair amount in the next several years as a result of his death), which is largely credited to his personality.

Doesn't something qualify as "late" when it's promised at a specific time and then delayed? Since there was no announced time for the iPhone to be released, you really can't say it's late. The most you can say is that it doesn't conform to the release schedule you think it should be following. No one ever said it would always be released in the summer, you just assumed. Schedules change all the time. If it really bothers you and you can't stand waiting another couple months, go ahead and get a different phone. The world isn't going to end.

It really bugs me when people blame everything that happens at Apple on the fact that Steve Jobs isn't around anymore. The man left a great legacy, but he's not coming back and Apple needs to continue moving ahead. Every little thing that happens isn't a sign of Apple's destruction. The company isn't going to fail because the iPhone is released a couple months later than it used to be. Get over it.

That's not what a huge contingent of his worshippers believe. It's how he created such a cult like following. A cadre of Apple supporters that will go to great lengths to prove that he knows what's best for them. A fact that reveals itself over and over in this forum.

Perhaps you were thinking of someone else. :)

You are obsessed with Steve Jobs. It's possible you might have mental problems.

It's late enought that I bought the Galaxy S3, moved from the iPhone 4S. I loved the iPhone but. Wanted a bigger screen. I wasn't waiting around any longer.

I did the same thing, although I've gotten into trying other phones as well. Right now I've got the 4S, GSM Galaxy Nexus, and HTC One X (and let me tell you, the One X is a BEAST). I'm planning on picking up a SIII sometime soon, but if it's better than the One X (as some people are saying)...WOW. :D

I just don't know what I'm going to do with Apple. I used to be a staunch defender of them, but after you've used these bigger, more beautiful screens and you stop listening to the fanboy's incessant bashing of Android and realize it's a great platform, I just don't think I can go back to that tiny screen (even if they increase it to 4", I don't think it's enough for me).

Throw in the silly lawsuits Apple keeps tossing at other OEM's, and I've had enough. As I said the other day, until they start worrying more about innovating and less about trying to stop the competition, I'm off the Apple train.

I've been an Apple enthusiast, since 1991, way before the advent of iToyz. I've attended every MacWorld Event (no matter the location) since then, as well as every WWDC, and keynote to date.

So yes I have as good of understanding and perspective on Steve Jobs as anyone who's been as loyal of a customer / enthusiast as I have. I spent tens of thousands of dollars on computers, long before Apple created mobile devices and morphed into the powerhouse they are today.

I do give Steve Jobs credit for what he accomplished, but I also know their are many others that made him look good and were at the heart of saving Apple. He did not do it all alone as folklore would have you believe. During Apples darkest hours I stood by them and continued to both use their computers and buy more stock as a shareholder.

So it's from this long term perspective that I am qualified to express my opinion and thoughts regarding the man and the company. Just because I don't like the present direction of the company, doesn't mean I don't appreciate and use their products.

Not only that, Apple has made me a fortune, considering I bought large quantities of stock when it sold for approx $20.00 per share, and continued to add to the volume of shares over the years since then.

Apple is a company I am quite involved in.

.

That's funny because didn't you say you trusted Apple more when Wozniak was at Apple, which was nearly 10 years before 1991.

Give it up you phoney.

Steve demanded perfection and the impossible. It's sad but I don't think Steve jobs would have let apple be put in the position to wait until September heck even October. What happened to the 1 year cycle?

Does your company have a larger market cap than Apple? If not, I think your business critique is worth about spit.

Still is a 1 year cycle and the launch was never scheduled to begin with. I guess people assumed it was supposed to always release in summer because of the past.

Where do you buffoons keep coming from? It's really irritating me.

"[Jobs] used to talk about initially about how after Walt Disney died, the company always got in trouble about asking “what would Walt do in this situation.” And he made it very clear “I don’t want that,”" said Gore. "He made it clear to Tim Cook and everyone else “Don’t ask what Steve would have done. Follow your own voice(apple insider)."

I think Apple really dropped the ball with the late launch, especially with Verizon changing plans. When I got my first smartphone, iphone wasn't available through Verizon yet, so I had to get an android phone. Everything else I have is Mac. When I went in a week ago, I was really wanting an iPhone. As soon as I had the iPhone 4 in my hands, I knew it wasn't for me. The deciding factor was the surprisingly small screen. It was smaller than my Droid2, which was a already small enough. for that reason, I ended up with a Razr, which has a larger screen and was much easier for me to read. If the iphone5 would have been out, I probably would have overlooked the small screen and walked out with it, especially if the screen would have at least been the size of my Droid2.

no one "allows" a late launch. It just happens. It's not in the control of one person. Never was or will be. Not regarding computers/software anyway.
