The next phone will always be better. Either you either learn to be satisfied with what you have, or upgrade every year.

nope

this is coming from someone who was on the S cycle from the beginning.

I get jealous of the new phones' looks, not the internal CPU changes that will take a looong time for developers to take advantage of anyway.
chances are, it will take a full year before last year's tech are being used fruitfully.

Look at the A7, metal only started being used this year.
Look at touch id - Apple pay only being used this year.

In the past year, an iPhone 5 user's experience is largely the same as an iphone 5s user's

Ipad 1 to 2 changed
2 to 3 changed
3 to 4 same (short 6mo cycle)
4 to air change
Air to air 2 change

iPads have mostly changed yearly. That was expected. IPad has changed body over every 1 year cycle.

Technically, the firm did change from the 3 to the 4. The 4 gained lightning.

No, I don't see them making the camera flush. The S-models don't really focus on cosmetic changes. It will be a new CPU in the same iPhone 6 shell.

I don't care about higher raw computing power because none of the apps I use or have even seen, take 100% advantage of it. Maybe Asphalt 8, but I think that game sucks. iMovie might, but 9 out of 10 times I'd rather edit on my Mac.

2GB ram will happen but it's not a deal breaker for me. Higher MP camera I can see too. Jealously? No.

All apps by February 2015/new app submissions/app updates are required to have 64 bit support (Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and many others dont have 64 bit support and code yet)

So after February 2015, any app update/new app submissions must have 64 bit support

Which will give 6/6 Plus owners a 35-40% speed boost in apps that dont have 64 bit support yet, that is a amazing speed bump and I cant wait at all

no thats not true.... that 35% speed boost number thats being thrown around is a number taken out of context with no practical real life relevance.

That's a stronger argument than lightning.

Obviously it's all based on opinion, but I'll lay out my logic.

When the iPad grew in thickness from the 2 to the 3, not much changed in the way of accessories. Smart covers and docks continued to work. Other than cases, pretty much all accessories were unaffected.

With the addition of Lightning, docks and Chargers were affected.

To me, getting new docks, Chargers/cables was much bigger hassle, than a one off case purchase.

That's why I feel that the switch to lightning was a bigger form factor change than the thickness growth.

Sticking with my iPhone 5 till something worth buying comes. Not impressed with my network (O2) charging £90 over retail for iPhones in a contract or up front and can't afford to buy one outright from Apple without saving up for it first so I'd have to be aiming for at least a 64Gb iPhone, if not a 128Gb version for it to be worth it. Any other features such as better battery life/camera/screen resolution etc... are no more than bonus features to the extra capacity as far as I'm concerned because as a phone/PDA, I'm fine having my current model for a year or 2 longer. I had the 3GS for 4 years before getting an iPhone 5.

4->4S
3G->3GS
were both major internal updates

Since really the internals have not changes much since the 5, I expect the 6S to be a major internal upgrade. Y'all will be jealous. :D:cool::D

5S camera received a much bigger sensor and a faster chip A7 vs A6.

The earlier upgrades were more important as the phones really needed more speed. The 6 is already pretty fast.

What are you talking about?? This has already been confirmed and is actual fact, it isnt "loosely" being thrown around and it actually has ton of practical real life relevancy. How can you say such a ridiculous statement?

it is taking advantage of the brand new ARMv8/64 bit architecture where they can use double the CPU registers now and have more advanced algorithim processing and better encryption, and much more

Running 64 bit code on a 64 bit processor runs 30-40% better then it does running 32 bit code(in regards to Apple A7/A8)

We already see a ton of examples already on iOS ,

iphone 6 and 6 plus get a single core score of 1000 in 32 bit mode and a multi core score of 2000

When they run geekbench 3 in 64 bit mode, you get a single core score of 1650 and a multi core score of 2950

I resisted the 'S' models on the 3, 4 and 5, so I don't see why it would be any more difficult on the 6. I don't care what phone other people have, or what they think of which phone I have, so the only reason for me to upgrade is when they come out with a new feature I really want.

buddy.. im well aware of the improvements instruction set wise. but i said practical. not benchmark scores.

Dropbox is already 64 bit. So is Chrome. Did you notice?
probably not.

Not really, I am wondering if they'll be any small cosmetic changes though as in the 5 and 5S were different colours (I know there were reasons for the change).

Your definition of jealous might be a little wrong then. :p

No.. My definition is correct.

Wanting a new phone is being envious, not being jealous..

Logically I know the S cycle is the better one because Apple has had time to refine it and give it improved internals which will hold up better in the long run, but I'm superficial and I want the new design right away. For that reason I am on the regular cycle (4 -> 5 -> 6). Apart from Touch ID on the 5s, I haven't really been "jealous" of the S devices.

If it looks identical to the 6 then I probably won't feel the need to upgrade. I'm not really concerned about the camera upgrade or slightly faster processor. I upgraded from the 5S because of the screen size. The 5S and 6 feel practically the same to me; speed wise.

I'm using an iPhone that is still on iOS 5. If anything, iPhone 6 users would be jealous of me.
