I've been thinking about that. I'm a textile designer and freelance illustrator and have thought about using an iPad as a portfolio and to sketch ideas to show clients.

Yeah with the portability of the iPad desktop should be less of an issue. I do all my RSS feeds on iPad now, reading away from the desktop is very relaxing.

After about a year I bought a pricey, but stable BookArc stand that works in horizontal and vertical, and started using a bluetooth keyboard. BT keyboard is great because just one tap of a key to light the screen and you don't need to unlock. In fact if you just press the "play" key while it's "sleeping" it lights up and resumes playing the radio or iTunes collection instantly. Great for emails, documents with Pages or Dropbox apps like PlainText.

For me the non grip stand makes the keyboard so much better, because if I want to read RSS I just grab the iPad and go sit somewhere. No fiddling trying to unwrap, detach, or unplug anything.

The only downisde is that oftentimes when I sit away from the PC the bluetooth keyboard remains active, and the iPad keyboard doesn't show up. Very annoying. Cumbersome to go to Settings and disable/enable BT so I have to remember to shut off BT on the keyboard (which is easier).

I wish this silly BT automatically deactivated beyond 1 meter distance, something like that.
