FYI, while the battery is glued in, it can be replaced by Apple. While the cost of $200 is a little excessive, it's not horribly more expensive than any other OEM laptop battery.

i've heard that socketed connections use more power as well, this time in reference to using several sd cards as storage over integrating memory chips directly.

it don't think it takes much of an imagination to see that chips integrated into a system can be pushed to save power in many ways a socket protocol will not allow.
