Turn off dashboard in Tiger

So theres no way to turn it off. Like the poster said earlier, if it has the black arrow it is running. I could care less about dashboard.

Just drag it out of your dock... (after following the above advice to manually close all widgets and turn of any hot corners...) and you'll never see or notice dashboard ever again...

turn on:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO

Dashboard is part of the dock process

i believe getting the new tinkertool 2.5 will disable the dashboard with the same terminal command.

I am very surprised nobody mentioned it yet but here is the Ultamate Dashboard Software

Here is a concise list of what it does:

- It allows you to disable and enable Dashboard
- It allows Widgets to run on the desktop outside of Dashboard
- It allows you to take how ever many Widgets you want out of the Dashboard and on to the Desktop (and you can put as many as you want back)
- It allows you to change the Widget dock's background
- It has a few security options
- It is also a Widget manager
