I could always drop my iSight off at your place next Friday on the way to work? I only use it to speak to Mum and since I'll be with her the next two weeks, I won't need it...

[shrieking]DO IT! DO IT! haha Do it! That would be hilarious![/shrieking]

I am looking forward to winter as well. I don't mind the cold and it is always so exciting when the snow starts falling. It makes me feel like a kid again!

I heat my house with propane. It is a small house so 1 tank gets me through the whole winter in South Dakota. I have a new fairly high efficiency furnance so it does pretty well.

I did install a digital programmable thermostat this year as well. They say they will help save energy by using different set programs. We will see. I can set it for morning when I wake up to raise the temp and then when i go to work to drop it way down then up again when i am on my way home from work and then down when I go to bed.

Thank you... my friend, my generous and lovely friend.

*grits teeth* I'll talk to you later. :D ;)

Oh, but I'm sure it won't work with my Mac anyway.

*She says airily...*

haha you are too cute :D

My car was parked outside overnight and this morning I had to use the defroster. Ugh :(

I like getting in my car and hitting the open sunroof button, not the defrost button.

I put in a digital programmable thermostat, too.

The old one was original with the house, which is 30 years old. It was getting bad last winter, and by this summer you had to turn the dial at least seven or eight degrees below the present temperature to even get the AC to come on.

This one, by comparison, is a delight. So nice and accurate!

I'm also going to invest in one or two small space heaters and some firewood. We plan to wear sweaters, use blankets, keep one or two rooms at about 65, and just let the rest of the house be chilly. Screw the natural gas companies.

Well, I turned on the heat this morning and nothing happened! I'm glad it's not too cold here yet, because the downstairs heat doesn't seem to be working. Luckily we can go upstairs to warm up if we need to. The heat is working up there, for whatever reason.

Mister repair man says he will come out tomorrow afternoon to take a look...

We were getting heavy snowfall since October 3rd, its been on and off for now but its definately colder and on those special occasions.. SNOW!

I hate winter and snow

Hope you checked the furnace for any sleeping hedgehogs first... and made sure the flues were clear... and the radiators were bled?

I turned mine on a couple of weeks ago... shiver... I hate winter. Got caught out twice this week by heavy rain and no brolly and felt like I'd been in a cold shower. Yuck!
yup we did all of that this morning
radient heat is the best

Yeah I turned on the heat last night for the first time this season too... Ah well, I'm sure there's still a couple weeks of Indian Summer still to come.

Heck, we usually do Thanksgiving on the beach. Sometimes X-mas too.

BV, I won't add to the can of worms you opened up. Hope your install goes well. I never believe contractors -- when the tell me it's gonna take 3 days I'm bracing for a week.

Cheers. Mac is disconnected and packed up -- am now posting from the office. Flat looks like a tip albeit a well-organised one. Have to get up at 5:30am to get some chores out of the way before they turn up... :(

We shall see how it goes...

Had to turn it on the other day as well. Got below 32 the other night and day's have been mid 40's and rainy. So wet and cold (not in the fun way, right Lacero") we had to get a bit of warmth going.

Our house is pretty well insulated and only 1100 sq ft or so, so not too much to heat, but with oil over $2/gallon, I don't want to heat more than I have to. Trying to keep the heat at 62 at night and 66 during the day (I am home all day for work, so a little heat feels good).

That is where a garage comes in very handy especially during the Fall and winter. The one thing that we look for in purchasing a house.

I have a contract for a Fall and Spring maintenance service. The guy will be here on Wednesday. Already having cold hands and nose. Today was the first day with a jacket.

I had forgotten to get my furnace cleaned this year. Thanks for the reminder. I have a service contract, but they haven't called yet... :(

You people need to invest in wool sweaters. I am heading to NZ in a couple weeks. If you want me to bring back some sheep, PM me.

PS, If you are scottish, I can't help you out. :)

Cheers!

I went for a drive this afternoon, and had to turn on the air con. Such a beautiful late spring day. The advantage of actually living in New Zealand

Why don't you pick up a kangaroo from Australia, and mix it with NZ sheep, you can have wooly jumpers then.
Duh,

Ditto...

I was in the freezer section of the super market today, and just about cried because I was cold inside and it is getting cold outside.

I think Moby said it best when he said
"When its cold outside, I'd like to die"

:(

Turned the heat on a week ago.
Had the first SNOW today. White and wonderfull, I love the winter can´t wait to get my skiis out:D

My father coonvinced me that yesterday would be a good day to change to winter tyres, I almost didn´t do it. It was nice and sunny, not a cloud in sigth.
First thing I see this morning is the neighbour soaking wet, changing his tyres:rolleyes:
