Yes because this brick is a work of art!

I get a kick out of iPhone users bashing other phones for looking cheap and plastic when they themselves wrap as much plastic, silicone, and TPU around their phones to prevent their prized pieces from shattering like a windshield hit with a spark plug from a 3ft fall off a desk.

I use a minimal case, but that android phone even without a case is straight up ugly as hell.

like i always say, have fun with your plastic device

Plastic is better than glass. Why? Because it makes the phone weigh less and it won't break easily.

4" screens really aren't that bad. i have small hands and a 4" screen is easy to use. beyond that is way to big. 4.3" is becoming the new standard. and we have phones with 4.65" screens...THATS A TABLET!!
The 4.65" screen on the Galaxy Nexus isn't bigger than a 4.3''. It's only bigger because there's no buttons and the buttons are on the screen now.

Everybody has a personal preference to what they like, some don't have a preference at all and go with whatever.

I couldn't do the 5 battery thing that's a bit much personally. I know some people like thin little phones and that is fine also. I like how HTC have the extended battery option for my Thunderbolt. Several hours of battery life to the point of not needing a charger more than every other day.

The bulk isn't really all that bad if you consider how much longer the battery last. If you have a 4.3 inch screen a little extra thickness isn't going to really be an issue. Fits right in the hand with ease

I get two days of use out of my iPhone 4S without needing a charge or an extended battery.

Most durable iPhone that Apple ever made was still the first generation from 2007. And it surprisingly has good battery compared to the iPhone 3's and most current Androids because it lacked a 3G chip. When you got the first iPhone 3G, it never had a switch to turn off 3G/Edge unless you jailbroke it using SBSettings. That means it would still be searching for a 3G in the background whether you were close to one or not. Got an original iPhone four weeks ago with a new battery. Played music for 10+ hours on shuffle with airplane mode on. The battery was still more than half (maybe 70%). If this was done on my previous BlackBerry, webOS, or Android phone, it would less than than 25%-30% by that point.

Only thing that really sucks with the iPhone 2G is lack of RAM and how much it can lag. Hardware from half a decade ago. Plants vs Zombies on 3.1.3 is an eye sore with the frame rate and slow downs. Phones and especially iPhone got really good by 2009. The 3GS can still play most games really well unless we are talking about Infinity Blade here. Only thing I hate with most Androids is battery life and occasional weird glitch or crash. I can turn off animations and live wallpaper and it still won't make a difference. But so far, I've never had to take out the battery when it freezes compared to my previous BlackBerry or Pixi Plus.

Matias Duarte said it best when he was comparing Siri to Android. If iOS is like Star Wars, Android is like Star Trek.

People forget how difficult it was to jailbreak an iPhone back in 2007. It wasn't like that 3-4 step process we have now. That was GEEK stuff that something Android users are labeled as. If you actually had an imagination, creativity, like choices in form factors, and can THINK FOR YOURSELF, Android isn't a bad platform to tinker with. Like getting into a marriage and knowing how to avoid any pitfalls.

I am a fan of iPhone and stated the 4th gen is my fav phone ever. But talking about their problems or praising it all day would bore me to tears without competition. I am glad Android existed. Apple hasn't excited the cell phone world with anything truly revolutionary in 3-4 years since the first iPhone or when the App Store opened in 2008.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Will Bring Smoother UI Experience – GPU Accleration Turned On By Default

A couple of Android engineers, the Romain Guy and Chet Haase made an interesting post today on Android Developers. As if I needed another reason to drool over Android 4.0, turns out that for the first time ever — Ice Cream Sandwich will turn on hardware acceleration by default. This is the same hardware acceleration found in Android 3.2 for tablets but in that version, it required a developer had to enable GPU acceleration with a simple line of code.

So, what does this mean for the regular ‘ol end-user like you and me? Well, this will translate into an all around smoother and faster UI. Things like menu’s, scrolling and various animations should be more fluid and responsive in all apps regardless of whether a developer enables GPU acceleration or not. It’s one small step for man but a huge leap for Android.

If there’s one thing that’s always irked me about the Android UI, it’s the fact that in most cases, it’s choppy. Having a smooth and responsive UI is actually one of the (very) few things I envy about iOS or WP7. Just add this to the ever growing list of reasons why I absolutely cannot wait for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Hardware acceleration? Check! V’room v’room!

non issue

I've never had any other android based phone to compare against the SGS2 but what I can say is that I haven't noticed any LAG with the UI...certainly no more so than my jailbroken iPhones. No complaints from me on that front.

Yes, the phone seems plasticy...as did my 3GS. The iPhone 4 is uncomfortable to hold thanks to it's sharper angled edges. I prefer the feel of the 3GS in my hand.

The graphics capabilities of the iPhone 4s outshine the SGS2 from what I understand...but as I do all of my high end gaming on a 6core processor OCd to 3.8ghz each...I don't find myself ever gaming on a tiny phone.

I've watched youtube videos showing the SGS2 vs the iPhone4s and they were neck n neck in all ways...with the SGS2 actually functioning a bit faster in nearly every category. (but they were so close that it makes me no difference)

I just can't get over how wonderful the deep blacks are on this SGS2 screen and the colors are amazingly saturated. It just is pleasant to look at...and with the 720p HD screen of the android phones that are coming shortly (such as the Nexus) they will be even more beautiful to stare at.

I mentioned I have 4 extra batteries...it's because my order was accidently doubled and was told to keep them. I've not needed to use any of them. The battery does drain faster than the iPhone 4 but it gets me through a day.
But I'm a charge freak anyhow...I charge any chance I get.

My brother-in-law just got a SGS2 for work (I had turned him from a BB user to an iPhone fan) but now...he is feeling the same way about the SGS2 that I do. We are both surprised at how much we like this phone that leaving the current set of iPhones behind is was an extremely easy decision in hind-sight.

I am by no means bashing the iPhone...I'm still a fan of all it can do. I am not missing anything on my android phone that my iPhone could do...including the apps. I'm just enjoying what the SGS2 gives me that no iPhone ever has....a bigger screen.

I'm also thankful that I don't have to jailbreak the phone every single time a new os version comes out...the cat n mouse game is over. I can tweak this phone til my heart is content without the need to root it.

Android is extremely flexible/customizable and it continues to improve.

I look forward to seeing how the iPhone 5 will compare to what ever answer Android has for it in the near future.

I'm glad both exist and that my choices and features/fuctions are better for it.

damn that is one ugly phone.

I only look at the screen so no worries and I have alot of it to look at, no squinting :) It's even uglier than you know because I also have the extended battery on it, but I can go three days without charging it less plugging into the wall and doesn't require iTunes. I download directly to my phone for everything so again lessing plugging it in :) how about you?. That's alot of looking at the screen and doing what I want to do with the phone. I also have the 4G LTE chip running 4G LTE so the pages are loading really really fast on that big screen so I'm getting more done and wasting less time in life worrying about my phone looking like a piece of art next to the Mona Lisa.

Oh yeah the 4.6" is bigger than the 4.3" because both phones don't have the physical home button like the iPhone. Physical home buttons are great on old PDA's and stuff. Samsung moving forward with it's designs.

About the Plastic better than Glass. My Android has aluminum chases with high quality plastic shell with a soft grip type feel to it. Why is plastic better than glass? Check out this video and it might clue you in. Which phone would you rather have stranded on an island after it hit a big rock on the ground? hmm the one that works right? Don't go throwing stones in glasses houses bud.

well I have 4G LTE ya know like actual fast speeds so it takes more juice. A rocket takes more fuel than a Ford Escort. And I actually use my phone through out the day quite often. 2 Days isn't to bad though in standby mode on your 3G unit. It probably feels like that even when you use the phone,, it's kind of a standby kind of phone isn't it, doesn't seem to move? it's been so long since ive had a 3G device so I don't remember how slow it really is.

How are you liking the low resolution on the GS2?

HTC Rezound........4.3-inch WVGA 1280x720 (341 ppi)

iPhone 4S.........3.5-inch 960x640 (326ppi)

How do you like that low resolution screen that's way way smaller to boot lol. in all fairness I was particularly surprised to see the screen resolution and pixel density – Apple has been the king of pixels-per-inch for quite some time. However, since it’s already impossible to distinguish individual pixels with the naked eye at 326 ppi (Retina display), I’m not sure how much difference the extra 16 pixels-per-inch will make during day-to-day use. The GS2 is still superior over the iPhone 4S when it comes to screens.

if we want to go by numbers the HTC Rezound smacks the iPhone right in the kisser.
