I seem to recall I once had a little program that would allow me to choose how many cores to use and also turn off hyperthreading, anybody know of it or how I can turn off hyperthreading ?

Not sure if the application works on Mavericks, but: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/can-you-disable-cpu-cores-in-osx.1698844/

I would question why you would need to do this, though. You won't get any benefits with performance and it won't save any energy -- in fact, it would likely use more. Best to leave the processor & the OS to do what they need to automatically.

Its for playing Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition via a Cider wrapper, it apparently can be prone to crashing when using multi cores.
