always before Disk Drill app I have turned off SIP by typing: csrutil disable. Then, to turn SIP back on i have always typed: csrutil enable.

So now i am told to type: csrutil enable —without fs. What is the command fs in DD instructions. If i type it, what do i type to turn SIP back on? I have queried app support, but wondered if anyone knows why i am using the fs in terminal?

According the Disk Drill tech article, that "--without fs" enables SIP without file system protection -- so that (apparently) you can use Disk Drill for data recovery. Disk Drill can't access the file system without doing that special command.

But, that's for Catalina and Mojave. Disk Access for file recovery in Big Sur changed dramatically, which is partly why DD version 4 was released.
Maybe this article is more relevant, if you are using Big Sur - there's a different terminal command, scroll down the page, look in Step 4.

Maybe I am slow, ok, but this is an app that is difficult to understand what I am buying, how to get it set up correctly. Yes, I guess I am slow. I learned I did not buy Disk Drill 4 Pro, but DD4 media recovery in App Store. Then I see an activation number blank, and I don't have any number to fill in. I don't even know if I need to. I don't remember getting an email from the developer when I bought the app, I must not I can't find anything. Its like Apple Store Twighlight Zone time. Thanks for responding above.

DD4 Pro is one time purchase w upgrades hereon. I like the app. Its simple to use, once I learned how to set up.
