TV App Left most up next text corrupted with old content

Thats fair enough

Sure, functionally it doesnt cause many issues - though mine can get so bad I have no hope in reading the text and dont know what episode number im up to....

And sure, you can long press and view details and get that info - or just use up next via the top shelf as that is not corrupted at all...

But its still a very strange thing to have been allowed to be released in the first place let alone staying broken for a good few releases following.

There is of course another reason why more haven’t posted about it and that could be that others just use Up Next from the Homescreen so don’t even enter to TV app to see it in the first place.

Just found it again.

So no fix yet.

Fingers crossed for the 5th update then since the problem first appeared.
 
Hi all

So, dare I say - maybe... perhaps... this is now finally fixed?

Been using the AppleTV for a couple of days with the latest update and have yet to see the corrupt text issue. Although I have thought this fixed in the past then it reoccurs.... normality it reoccurs quite fast.

So, best case its fixed.
Worst case its not but taking longer to manifest!

How's everyone else's experience?

oh thats disappointing.

Im normally not overly optimistic that the problem is fixed but I thought this time around that as it had behaved itself for a couple of days post update with a fair amount of 'movement' in the list that it was finally fixed.

Disappointing to see it still happening to you - so inevitably it will re-occur on mine at some point too.

What an odd bug to leave unaddressed for so long.....

This is a joke now, Apple. Whats wrong with you????

I must admit, this time I really was convinced they had fixed it as mine was rock solid since Monday and worked fine for the entire week. Ive never seen it 'last' so long before corrupting the text but it fell apart Friday night.... back to corrupted text.

I know, I know, its not the worst bug in the world but its highly visible and im astonished Apple haven't fixed it by now.

They introduced it in 16.2 putting that awful advertising block above the up next list.... but 16.4 and still not working.

Whats going on? Why aren't more people mentioning it? Its never appeared in any YouTubers review... never seen it mentioned in a story on Macrumors....
.... it is only a handful of us that are having this problem??

Ive already reported this twice.
I will do it again now we have 16.4


However, this is really interesting. I was chatting to a friend today who also has the latest AppleTV box (I have the ethernet one, he doesnt) - and hes NEVER seen this happen.
I had to show him screenshots from this forum showing him the issue and he was none the wiser.

So... this IS quite rare it seems? My expectation was that it was happening with everyone.... but of course as so few people have mentioned it then it's only a few.

I wonder what the common denominator is? New hardware? TV settings? something else?


update: I have use the feedback assistant link this time - and have uploaded the pics from this thread to provide apple with some evidence. Lets see what happens then.

Dare I ask....

Another day another update..... apparently 16.4.1 is now available - I havent updated my AppleTV yet - anyone else done so who has this issue and any improvement?

This update seems to have fixed the corrupt text problem. I've had several things come and go from my up next rail and there have been no issues.

I thought that a couple of updates ago - it really behaved itself for the best part of a week until the problem reoccurred.

Again 16.4.1 was OK for day but for me it happened once again quite quickly.

Currently the problem is there for me...

Well it doesn’t do it at all on my ATV4K 1st Gen so just don’t get what makes my 3rd Gen different considering they’re using the same software 🤷🏻‍♂️

True.

Though my friends have a 4K 2nd Gen, and a 4K 3rd gen but not the wired ethernet version.

Mine is the 4K 3rd Gen wired though I had the 4K 2nd gen before that. Cant recall exactly but Im pretty sure this first appeared for me on the 2nd gen before I upgraded to 3rd gen so its been on 2 different units now.

So, I dont think it the hardware.

Also, I though perhaps there was some peculiarity with TV, settings, etc - but my friends ones are the same as mine.


Stumped. But annoyed its still here after many updates and that nobody else is talking about it!


im tempted to wipe the whole lot and start again as a new unit and not 'copy the other' appleTV (I also have an older 4K with the glass remote) but its fine on that one.

Its definitely just happening on some hardware I think.
 
Quick update....

Again, ive been fooled into thinking this before.... but it seems like its fixed?

The reason im sceptical is that it actually started working and cleared the 'ghosted' text mid-week and not when it coincided with any software update.

Anyone else see this?

Yep, it does seem fixed. Both my ATV boxes have had glitch-free Up Next rails for over a week now.
