Can't wait for the new season to start. I can see Lithgow playing a creepy killer.

Emmy and Tony winner John Lithgow is joining the cast of Showtime's drama "Dexter."

Lithgow will appear in all 12 episodes of the show's upcoming fourth season, playing Walter Simmons, Miami's latest serial killer and Dexter Morgan's (Michael C. Hall) new nemesis.

Simmons is described as an unassuming, mild-mannered suburbanite who has been living a dual life as one of America's most prolific serial killers, dubbed the "Trinity Killer" because of his proclivity to kill in threes.

After being tracked by FBI special agent Frank Lundy (Keith Carradine), Simmons relocates to Miami, where Dexter is brought on to assist in the investigation and becomes fascinated

I was so excited when I saw this news. Lithgow is an excellent actor and will add another great member to an already stellar cast. I am really looking forward to September.

For those of you who haven't seen Dexter, I highly reccomend it. I would put it on the same echelon as LOST as far as current television shows go, and that's saying a lot.

This is great. The two shows I've been watching the most latley are Dexter and 3rd Rock From the Sun. It's like my appletv went haywire and started combing my shows. Next up: The gang of It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia joins House.

Duff-Man says...I just started watching season one recently. Cool show, I like how it is set up. My only complaint is that some of the acting (not Michael C Hall - he plays his role superbly) is a little lame - I am hoping it improves some as I gte further into the series....oh yeah!

I liked the cartoon Dexter's Lab. You know, Dexter and Didi? Yeah, that show was cool, i can't watch this one, it sullies the name of the cartoon "Dexter's Lab" to a mere "Dexter" and makes it with real people :(

Awesome News! I watched seasons 1-3 and I always wondering when they end what are they going to do next season? This season was so good!

Yeah. I'm bringing this back up. I promise you that you'll won't be disappointed. If anyone has SHO or can download it, watch it. This season is incredible and is considered by many, including myself, as one of the best shows out there. At the very least in the top 5 and believe me when I say it's that good.

Shows worth watching not including PBS:

Mad Men
Breaking Bad
Dexter
30 Rock
It's always Sunny in Philadelphia
Curb your Enthusiasm

If you're not watching these shows, you should be because they are the only shows worth watching if you're an intellectual.

Last Sunday's episode might have been the best I've seen from this show. The scene at the dinner table for Thanksgiving was crazy. The weird part for me is that it's filmed in my city so I pick apart all the places they show trying to figure it out. Dexter's house is a few blocks from me.

They film in SoCal? It really seems like Miami.....

I love this show. We watched seasons 1-3 over the summer through On Demand. I think we watched the whole thing in two weeks.

Dexter is awesome.

This past episode was the best one so far. It was so intense at the dinner table/after dinner. The cliffhanger at the end was a cool twist too (not gonna spoil it!). John Lithgow is truly an amazing actor. Is there any type of roll that guy can't play? Great casting.....

They try to make it appear that they are in Miami. There are random scene shots thrown in that are in Miami to pump the vibe but there are no shots with actors in them. It's all shot in Long Beach, CA and in every episode I spy about 5 locations I know. The hotel from when Dexter goes on the road trip with Lithgow is at the corner of PCH and 2nd street here.

Started watching since Season 1&2 were on Netflix Watch It Now. Bought Season 3 from iTunes. Watching Season 4 currently.

The next 3 weeks are shaping up to be some of the best episodes of the series. I won't want it to end.

Damn, was that episode ever good. You are right. Sally and Rebecca jumping to Arthur's defence when Dexter could have just offed him right there was rather annoying, but oh well. I would prefer a much longer kill anyway, lots of talking and discussing.

I cannot wait for the finale. Hell, I can't wait for this Sunday. Dexter is the only show that makes me this frantic to watch the next episode, and I've watched a lot of good TV. I went through seasons 1 and 2 in a week.

I won't post spoilers, but DAMN! That last episode was amazing! Dexter is my absolute favourite show.

That revelation at the end... :D

The season finale should be fantastic. Rumor has it that it will be very bloody and might have some dynamics change on the show. Can't wait to see the finale but also don't want it to end.

Another brilliant episode and the promos for next week look insane. Arthur seems to find out who he is and seems to walk into the police station where Dexter works wearing the badge he kidnapped the kid. They confirmed the rumors of some kind of plot twist that is yet to come. Can't wait!

As for this episode, I was at the edge of my seat the whole time and I'm wondering how Dexter could deal with a family and deal with "Trinity" at the same time.

Crazy thing is that HBO has like 10x the available viewers than SHO but Dexter had twice the viewers than Curb Your Enthusiam (also a great show but I watch Dexter first). This show is worth the price of SHO alone.

Hello...... Dexter Morgan.

Great ending.

That episode was awesome.

OMFG. I'm stunned by this ending. With watching every episode of this show from the beginning, I am again stunned. I'm an unemotional (even more than most men) but I actually shedded a tear over this episode.

I don't care if you get this show from ordering Showtime, on iTunes, or through torrents, you have to watch this show. It is absolutely the best show on TV. Seriously, if you can't afford it, get it through the torrents but make sure you watch every episode from the beginning.

Amazing ending. Without giving anything away, I think Dexter may be a tad darker next year. Great season. Lithgow was very good.

Yeah, though how could he not be darker than he already is? The only thing is that he has children to take care of by himself (with help from Deb). They took a whole different path from the books. Next to Dexter, Rita is my favorite character.

And yes,Lithgow was great. Best role I seen him in and I remember him back in the day in Footloose.

Holy crap. I did NOT see that coming. What an ending. What a show.

My heart was racing that entire episode.

It really is the best show on television.

How the hell are they going to top Lithgow?

I cannot WAIT until next season.

Damn. I watched it last night and next season has to be the last. I don't want Dexter to be dragged out for multiple seasons, ala Entourage. There are so many unanswered questions.

I wonder how the writers will wrap it up with the Mitchells and "Kyle Butler" though, if they even plan to.
