I heard on radio the other day that the upcoming season will feature Mos Def as a recurring character throughout. Interesting.

I got into Dexter recently, and ploughed through all 5 seasons. Loved every bit of it! Took a few episodes to adjust to the concept, but it really is one of my favourite TV shows.

Yep, I think it's the brilliant writing that enables the audience to connect and even sympathize/empathize with a serial killer. Wow, even typing that out is kinda scary.

Haha yeah, but Dexter is effectively the death penalty itself. We know the characters are guilty, so you can sympathise and appreciate what Dexter does. If you were unsure, or didn't know a character was guilty, you'd disagree with what Dexter does.

Most of the time he seems to follow Harry's rules, but there was that incident in the rest stop (this past season, I think) when he killed that biker guy just for being a dick.

I'm curious what other kind of shows Dexter-viewers watch. What are your other favorite shows?
If I had to name one, I'd say Breaking Bad. I love that show, too. (Oh, and please no spoilers since I haven't seen season 3 yet!)

All I can say is "Start watching!"

I haven't started my personal hype machine for the upcoming season, but I can't wait none the less. I loved season 1, 2, & 4, indifferent on 3, and 5 was top notch considering it had a tough act to follow.

As for other shows, there are too many to list so I will just name a couple that are currently airing: House, CSI, CSI Miami, Bones, Community, Mythbusters. Just started Eureka on Netflix instant play. Liking it so far.

The new shows the wife and I have added recently are Game of Thrones, The Borgias, and Camelot. Old favorites would include Criminal Minds, CSI, Law & Order SVU, and Fringe. I'm a reality TV junkie, so I watch lots of that stuff as well.

I also watch The Good Wife, Criminal Minds, Law and Order: SVU (though this has REALLY jumped the shark)... Desperate Housewives too, but that one has jumped the shark as well.

How do you think SVU has jumped the shark? I'm just curious.

I just feel like some of the storylines have gotten really over the top along with the acting at times (though I don't think this is the fault of the actors; I think it's more the lines they are given?). Also I haven't been a fan of some of the more recent DAs - the strongest years were the ones with Cabot and Novak as the regular ADAs, IMO. I just don't think it's as well written as it used to be. Sorry for the un-eloquent response, LOL.

I only just realized how odd it was that I'm rooting for a killer. I never saw Dexter as the bad guy in the show, even from episode one.

Only "good"? The John Lithgow season? That was the best one.:eek:

Season 4 was outstanding.

Does Game of Thrones get better? I watched episode 1, and wasn't feeling it. Should I invest the time and watch the rest?

I can understand that. They have definitely brought in so many ADA's over the years. And while they do a pretty good job of "keeping it real" I do at times think things are kinda silly. However, I still really enjoy the show, probably because after so long I'm invested in the characters.

I'm enjoying it so far. Let me clarify though, I have not read the books so I'm not in the position that some might find themselves of having their enjoyment diminished by comparing the story to the original. My wife has read the books and she says they have been good about being faithful to the written version up until this last episode where they apparently switched the sexual orientation of some of the characters. It definitely has the feel of something grand that will take a long time to develop.

Regarding Game of Thrones, I did not read the books either, and I admit that the first episode did not hook me, but kept me interested enough to continue. There is a period of strangeness, where you have to figure out relationships and what is going on. I'm watching regularly, cinematography is outstanding, although I can't say this is the best thing I've ever watched. If I had to choose, one or the other, there are betters shows out there. Right now I am enamored with shows like The Walking Dead and The Killing. Also I begrudgingly watch True Blood (the books are much better) and if I had to choose (since I have read all the "Dead" books), I'd pick Game of Thrones and give it a chance to develop. :)

The characters are actually what keep me watching. They did a good job of creating characters that the audience could get invested in. :)

Wow! Tonight I saw the season 6 premiere episode of Dexter and, to put it mildly, it was amazing.
The Antichrist/religion storyline seems interesting right from the start.

"I have no idea what Hammertime is... And how it differs from regular time." Dexter. :D

I can't wait to see more.

I have to agree- it was fantastic. I watched a leaked version  earlier this week because I was afraid I wouldn't have a way watch it (no Showtime at college). Looking forward to this season- hopefully he doesn't find a woman (not counting the college girl).

This.

Anyone who is watched Battlestar Galactica knows that Edward James Olmos is gonna deliver an epic performance this season.

I think we got one more season left before the show is done.

Yep, it looks like another good season of Dexter. It's very interesting to me what they are doing with Batista and LaGuerta. Hmm... something's up there after the way they seemed to resolve all of their conflict at the end of last season.
