It's 02:30am in the UK and I've just finished watching the 5th season of Entourage. I love it. I mean, it has it's flaws but Piven is incredible as Ari Gold and there are some brilliantly funny moments in there. The 5th season took it to a new level, in my opinion.

Glad you liked it! It's by far my favorite show, besides, Adrian Grenier is smokin hott, ha! It's gonna be a pain waiting until season 6 starts next summer though, but I'm sure it will be worth it...

Some good recommendations so far. I'm similar in my quest for tv series to watch. A few series I haven't seen mentioned so far that you might be interested in:

- Stargate SG-1: If you're into Sci-Fi, this is a great show. A lot lighter/more fun than Battlestar. Long story arcs, good character development. One of my favorite series along with The West Wing, definitely re-watchable many times.

- The 4400: The predecessor to Heroes. Similar in some ways, better in others. Had an excellent story going, but was abruptly canceled due to the writers strike before they could finish it up. Still worth watching though.

- The Dresden Files: Based off the books by Jim Butcher, about a wizard for hire in modern day Chicago. Only lasted a season but was a good show. The books are even better.

- True Blood: A fairly popular drama on HBO about vampires based on the Sookie Stackhouse books Charlaine Harris. A bit slow moving and heavy on romance/sex plot lines, but still entertaining.

Top of my list to recommend right now would be Friday Night Lights. I just started in the early summer and wanted to watch one after another. It's that good. It's about the lives and relationships in a small Texas town that revolve around football. I know it might sound bland, but from what I can tell it's a gem that most people haven't found and has low raitings.

I would say Everwood, but only one season (of four) is out on dvd. Rumor has it that 2-4 may be out in 2009, but that could still be iffy.

I have heard good things about The Wire, but I'm not sure it's something I'd be quick to check out. I've also heard great things about Deadwood, but the few parts I've seen are cringeworthy. My friend still maintains it's historically accurate and that it would be common of the folk to curse every other word...

My aunt actually recommended Skins, but I don't think that's out on dvd in the US, and BBCA is likely editing it heavily.

I also appreciate the descriptions from other posters without giving away plot points (e.g. ghostee and 4400 - I watched some, but have yet to finish up).

It might have been mentioned before but if not…

Since you like Grey's Anatomy do you also watch Private Practice? In a lot of way's it's a better show this year.

I watch a lot of the shows on your the list.
The one's that are missing from there however, are The Wire and Californication.

Both great shows!

Agreed. I watched season one of Californication in just a few days and after the last episode, I was sad that there wasn't another season on iTunes yet.

I also have all the seasons of the Wire. It's a good show but I'm only halfway through season one. Weeks go by in between me watching each episode. I think season one started out to slow without allot of action. I'm more into shows like Lost and 24 where things happen from the start. Californication was cool just because of David being in it and, well, the naked chicks.

I would say right now:

Fringe(FOX)
Bones(FOX)
True Blood(HBO).....really sexy show
Leverage(TNT)
Californication(ShoTime)
Diary of a *********(ShoTime)...I think thats the name of the show.

My Own Worst Enemy(NBC) is good but it doesn't make me excited for the next episode.

Bless

So, I've watched the first season of House. It's not bad, although it is still riding on the back of the brilliant acting by Huge Laurie at the moment. It needs some more depth, which it started to introduce during the end of the first season.

It's been good enough to warrant me trying the second series to see if the background and character stories develop.

I just recently finished the 2 seasons of a show called Big Bang Theory.
Its a decent show that is pretty funnny. It is about some genius nerdy geeky types.

Diary of a *********(ShoTime)
I think that is ITV made and imported to the US by Showtime, BTW you spelt Showtime wrong it is Showtime:p

You need to watch them all as it gets better each season :D

I couldn't watch that to save my life. Billie Piper with her 1 expression, it's like watching a painting on legs. And not a good painting.

How I Met Your Mother

Just discovered the show a couple of weeks ago. Went back for the first three seasons. I have not laughed that had in years...

Downloaded the torrent for first 3 seasons, but the dvd sets are cheap on amazon too.

My brother has lent me his Peep Show boxset, and although I'm only on the second series, I can already recommend it. It's very, very funny.

I'd also like to support the earlier recommendation for Band of Brothers, which is truly one of the finest programmes ever broadcast.

I don't think anyone's mentioned "Pushing Daisies" yet. It's not exactly what you'd call an "epic drama", but it's not your run of the mill sitcom either. Season 1 is available on DVD, but I think you can see all episodes up on ABC's web site.
