10 beta 1 is horrendous... I constantly have to reboot it and my remote won't respond half the time... Trying to make it to beta 2 without restoring to 9.x it's tough though.
Loading the first beta of anything from WWDC on primary hardware is highly inadvisable. ;)

Yes, you need to install a profile (available through the developer portal) via usb-c.

Whilst I've had to restart mine a few times, it's generally been playing quite nicely and the dark mode is growing on me. I'd still prefer it darker, like black, but it's much better than the bright white :D

I fully acknowledge this is my fault. But it's kind of a mess. The beta installed automatically because I had to profile installed from the 9.2 beta. I didn't intend to put 10 on this. But last week it install automatically and because of the constant disconnecting I had to order a USB C cable to revert back to 9.2. When you have to completely set up the Apple TV again. And using the iPhone for automatic set up doesn't seem to be working with iOS 10. I know it's my fault, but I wish it didn't install iOS 10 without at least asking first.

Whilst it might not be what you want to hear, at some point you did click on a button to say "Update Automatically" otherwise the aTV4 wouldn't have automatically updated. I didn't, so had to go into the menu to update to the 10 beta, but even after running that, I selected not to update automatically so I can still choose which further beta releases I want to install.

From past experience, it's unwise to let any software, from any supplier, update automatically as you run the risk of functionality breaking, beta or not. Manually updating gives you the option to check out the websites and forums beforehand to check if other are having problems first.

Had the beta profile installed and it updated automatically OTA. Seeing as single sign is useless to me (no cable services, suspect mostly US services like universal search seems to be about), literally the only new thing is dark mode which I tried for five seconds before going back to the much more aesthetically pleasing light mode. Meanwhile I have to restart Haystack.tv every third video as they just refuse to play or will play audio only. Fun times.
