Love the new TweetBot. The only thing I wish it would get from the Twitter app is the ability to see who your new followers are along with @mentions.

Indeed. I blame Twitter for not updating their mac app frequently as well.
I just hope that someday we'll be seeing Twitterrific 5 on OS X, and if it ever happened I hope it wouldn't be selling for $12.99 :D

I'd pay even more to get good software like Tweetbot - if it meant they could hire more staff. There are only 3 of them working on their apps: http://tapbots.com/. What is $13 in the grand scheme of things, for an app I use everyday - the equivalent of a few beers or a couple of visits to a fast food place.

Tried Twitterific on iPhone and Mac, and whilst it works ok it's not in the same league IMO. I do use Twitterific on my iPad as the old Tweetbot for iPad is lacking, but I'm not a big fan of that software. Hopefully now the Mac version is out of the door they can focus on the iPad.

I like the new look, especially relative to its predecessor. About damn time we got an update for OS X.

What was the regular price ? Usually apps that are on sale have it stated in the description but I dont see it here.

or is this just a new regular price ?

I tried Tweetbot 2, and after seeing what was lost, went back to Tweetbot 1.6.2. You can no longer resize the images. I have a 27" screen, and frequently want to see the image larger. And small image preview has been removed. Aesthetically, the new dock icon is pretty blah, and the sidebar is now black and very wide instead of the old narrow gray sidebar. Too much contrast. And as noted, the new quote format didn't make it into the release, but is expected in the next.

I pop the timeline out in a new window and hide the main one. Really wish there was a way to hide the sidebar altogether, though.

On a sidenote, when is Twitter going to update their official Mac OS X app? They've pushed out an update in October last year which finally added inline images but it's been a long time since then.

Their app uses a lot of RAM and lacks many of the new features/changes introduced to Twitter. Getting sick of using their app and am close to taking the plunge with Tweetbot 2 for Mac even though I personally dislike their iOS app. :|

For those who have TweetBot 2, can you help with a couple questions about functionality:

1) With TweetDeck, when new tweets emerge in an already lengthy timeline, it will start hiding tweets. To re-reveal them you interact with a section of the timeline, but then this causes you to lose your place in the timeline. Does any such behavior occur in Tweetbot 2?
2) Will it automatically refresh/update your timeline when you bring your laptop out of sleep? TweetDeck also doesn't do this.
3) Can you change the timeline background to black?

Thanks!

Can you pick and choose specific users to receive notifications from or is it an "all or nothing" setting?

There are numerous different notification settings that you can customise to however you want. Mentions can be set to none, people you follow or all. See screenshot for the rest.

On iOS a "tap to load missing tweets" appears in the timeline which will load the tweets without losing your place in the timeline as long as you keep the tap to load at the top of the screen as they will then be loaded above. I haven't seen it appear on OS X but I would assume it would work the same way if it hid any.

Unfortunately, on OSX I see no option to force it to load towards the top. It loads it downwards, so you lose your place.

So I was really looking forward to one feature but it doesn't seem to be working with tweetbot 2 for mac. On iPhone and iPad I have iCloud for the timeline sync and it's really nice. So for example if I open tweetbot 3 on my iPhone and there are 100 new tweets...I can read 50 of them then switch to the iPad and it picks up where I left off. It doesn't seem to be working the same on the Mac. Anyone know why or how I can troubleshoot this?

I just rolled back to the previous version of Tweetbot - the new one was just too hard on the eyes. Also I found a few little changes quite annoying - the right-click View Conversation is gone, so now you just have View Details. Also, I don't like the way it blurs out a user's Twitter header image when you view a profile. Some people (myself included) put a lot of work into that header!

All very underwhelming. And yes, I know it is just three people running the show. But... meh... it needs to be better.

Tweetbot syncs fine for me between iPhone and Mac...both on the newest versions. Maybe try turning syncing off then back on both apps?

I just wish you could view RT's/Favs on it, but I'm guessing that's not allowed by Twitter.

I purchased this for my Mac and I'm getting Permission Denied. Bah, I'll have to contact someone in the morning.

I'm having this same issue and it's annoying. I am on the latest firmwares have deleted and reinstalled both apps on my mac and phone. I unchecked/checked iCloud but its still not working. Any other suggestions?

It's somewhat a big reason I purchased it for my Mac to sync between all my devices.

I had that problem initially but then it started working fine although occasionally doesn't work. It always works fine Mac to phone but phone to Mac isn't 100% reliable.

Anything you guys recommend to getting it to work it's never worked for me? I tried emailing them and no response they've got crappy customer service just awful. This is the last Tapbots software I ever purchase.

I've only ever had the Mac version out of sync (behind) the iOS version, to get it to get back in sync reopening the iOS version and scroll down a few more tweets has then kicked the Mac version into getting back into sync.

Yea mine are not reacting to each other.

I got a reply from Tapbots today. They said it could be because I'm not using iCloud Drive. Are you using iCloud Drive or just iCloud?

I stayed away from iCloud Drive because there were compatibility issues I believe if you weren't on Yosemite. I'm on Yosemite now wondering if I should go ahead and enable it.
