I think that tweetie is very good but there are some things that I do miss about twitterrific. There is no way to know if you have new tweets. Growl isn't currently supported and I miss the chirping sound of twitterrific. I also think that twitterrific has a better interface but tweetie simply blows it away in terms of features (and eye candy) without overwhelming your desktop like tweetdeck does. There is no syncing between the iPhone and desktop versions.

I'm sort of on the fence right now between the two but leaning towards tweetie. I hope some of these problems can be addressed in further updates for both apps. Along with eventbox I think they are the best twitter apps for the mac.

I downloaded Tweetie for Mac Monday and have had mostly nothing but problems. My first time opening the app I had no problems, but after that I was unable to get the app to load my info and connect until about 12:00pm Tuesday. Then tonight I again have the same problem of not getting connected and all the app says is "null." I was really looking forward to this app, but I am 99% ready to give up on it.

corrupted download maybe ?

try downloading again and unzipping

works just fiine here
only been using it since yesterday but no problems this far

When I use a Twitter manager, I use Nambu. People have tweeted a few key features that Tweetie lacks atm.

I don't understand what the hubbub is all about with it to be honest. Yeh it's probably better than Tweet Deck (or so lots of people are quick to point out) - but so is EventBox and Nambu.

Nambu is free. I'll stick with that.

TweetDeck for me. Nothing comes close if you're a heavy Twitter user like I am. A friend of mine described it as being like "air traffic control" of Twitter. I've got six columns columns open (feed, replies, DMs, Facebook, and two hashtag searches) at once. As far as I can see, no Mac Twitter app comes even close to the functionality of TweetDeck.

ive been using the free version and i have to say the ads dont bother me at all. i wouldnt be using this app if it only came in a paid version, so good idea by the dev.

The menubar icon glows blue! It's really hard to miss

I didn't notice it but thanks. I generally don't pay attention to my menu bar apps until I need them. With twitterrific I had both chirps and growl notifications. Either of those two solutions are far more noticeable.

Syncing the read state between it and the iPhone version would be a killer feature. :)
