That looks bad from an ergonomic standpoint.

The stand is going to put the top of the monitor above your eye level when it should be at or slightly below it. This could cause neck strain.

Unless this stand is intended for those people with unusually long torsos.

Would be good for a laptop but certainly not at $80.

$79 for a bent piece of metal that probably costs them less than $3 per piece, landed.
Ha. If you can make this, and package it, and ship it for $3? Well then what are you doing on MacRumors forums? You should be out doing this yourself! LOL. Seriously, the packaging and tariffs are more than $3.

Pretty sure this costs less than $1/unit for them to make. At $80 it's 99% profit margin.

If somebody is entertaining this kind of price, a sit-stand desk is probably within their budget. It'd be hundreds of times more functional - not sure why anybody would ever get this.
Again... if you can make this for $1... what are you doing here? We'll hire you tomorrow :)

My $140-textbook monitor stand is better, thicker, and unapologetically Paper.
So our Curve Riser is almost half the cost of your $140 textbook then? (Which... is now being used as a monitor riser?) Ahh - higher learning... JK - sell those expensive textbooks and use cheaper books!

Looks like it would be a bargain at $25, if they made it with a more expensive metal like titanium.

Apple's product releases this week have to have been deemed particularly unimaginative for a product like this to make the front page of MacRumors.

Too short. I've got a stack of LIFE nature books from the 70's, measuring 8", high for my needs. :)

Ahhh, if only it were that easy. :) Making it *look* that easy - is the hard work.
Pretty standard actually - by the time it ships to retailers globally (who want anywhere from 50%-70% for themselves)

Funny story - the original HiRise for iMac (which this kind of replaces) was inspired my visiting a "fruit company's" office in Austin, TX - and seeing ALL their iMacs on 2 reams of paper! Works but... there are more elegant solutions. :)
Whelp. Thanks for playing. We'll keep trying. 👍🏻
If you're going to flood the thread and imply you're with Twelve South, please identify yourself properly. So you're either pretending, an employee, or official representation. Those three things carry different implications. If you're pretending, carry on cuz no harm-no foul. If you're an employee I'm pretty sure TS would like better representation beyond snarky replies to forum comments. Try highlight the benefits of your products instead. You can't be official, I refuse to believe it. On the remote chance you are official, you need vendor status in your profile so we know who you represent.

I'll just say: minimalism is nice... and this isn't minimalist unless you really need something on that lower shelf. (even then, maybe it would look cleaner on the side or behind.) ..No matter how "minimalist" you set up the nice, "instagram lighting" photo.

Hey hey - I'm Andrew Green - Co-founder and Owner of Twelve South. Be glad to add any feedback, details and help I can. Funny tho - most MR Forum comments are pretty snarky to begin with, so helpful replies are pretty hard to come by ;-) If you have any 'constructive' feedback or questions - be glad to help. Yes, Vendor status here would be welcome.

1. Design Language

This stand imported from China did not understand the design language of Apple.
Therefore it is completely unacceptable for me as an aesthete. Unfortunately, many graphic designers and artists work with Apple too, all of them will also dismiss this break in design. More 'relaxed' spirits might have more fun with it...

And even if the dimensions are correct the black color makes them shrink, so that the stand does not really look like part of one ensemble.

2. Ergonomics

Apple had made and implemented these thoughts about ergonomics:

Were they wrong?

3. Accident Prevention

One short note about the advertising photo. It is always dangerous to block a glass door with a table. Also the plant on the table feels uncomfortable. ;)

4. Competition

ii.jpg

Competitors also find it difficult to gain a foothold in this market. There are certainly variants, but the following applies to all of them: Do you have to buy completely wrongly dimensioned furniture to need something like this?

5. Table protection

Is your stand equipped with rubber pads or does it scratch the table surface?

6. Heat damage

The Mac Mini can get hot under extreme load (for example 4K video rendering) in the heat of summer. Then the fan runs and the case convectively dissipates heat to the environment. Does your stand cause a problematic heat accumulation under such conditions?

Here's a bit of constructive -not 'constructive' nor the more colloquial "constructive"- feedback. You may want to be a bit more about the product than you have been. Snark from internet forum comments isn't really license to be the "they're doin' it so I'mma do too" guy imo. Rise above it and represent TS like you own it. I'm guessing you want to sell the product or at least get people interested in it. The comments thus far do not help accomplish that goal.

The product is comparatively expensive for it's category. Why do you think it's worth it? More importantly why do you think we should think it's worth it? If I say it's overpriced for what it is, why am I wrong? ←Those are the types of things Co-founder's and Owner's should address if they visit a forum. Let your warehouse guy handle the snark duties on his lunch break.

I had no strong feelings towards the company, but if that really is the founder (I have a hard time believing it really is) I won't be purchasing anything from them in the future.

I thought I was the only one that felt uncomfortable with the plant positioning.

Looks nice but as others said a bit tall. I really like the stand, I got recently. Provides a little bump in height, but also more ports! Only $10 more than Twelve SOuth and built very well.

Andrew- Ignore the snarky comments. I do think you have missed an opportunity here, because even though a Mac mini fits into your stand, a MacBook Pro does not. A sizable number of your potential customers like to use a MacBook Pro in a clamshell mode where the only display is the external monitor (5K or a 5K2K screen). If you could tuck the laptop on the stand's shelf, that makes for a very neat workstation solution.

So you work for Twelve South? And you created an account to respond with snark to people who think you’re overcharging? In my industry, we have a name for that: bad form.
