So, I just got one of these. It’s OK, not quite up to Apple quality standards (the arm and holder are completely plastic, which you screw to a socket in the base with a supplied Allen wrench and self-tapping screw), the metal base is powder-coat white with an indifferent finish quality.

On the other hand a genuine Apple equivalent would probably be $99 ;)

It’s a practical item for my nightstand, and the phone comes off and on with no drama.

With respect to the assembly procedure, I imagine people who don’t understand how screws like this work will have some agita trying to get it perpendicular to the mounting surface- it will self-correct as you screw it in.

The swivel head works fine. A slot in the vertical plastic arm has a groove which grips and hides the cord adequately. The plastic arm may or may not hold up- the joint looks a bit minimalist. The base has non-skid elastomer dots on the bottom to prevent marring one’s furniture.

I do think this is a better solution than a loose MagSafe puck- it should help prevent the otherwise inevitable cable breakdown at the connection from the cable to the MagSafe charger.

Just bought this Forté stand: I like it and it looks great.

I don’t understand all the whining about the price. Yes you can buy cheaper solutions. Same with phones, cars, bikes, food, etc.
