I like the idea of this but I would be happy with a cheaper version that cost $20 but made out of plastic and painted an silvery aluminum color that looks like metal

I have the previous model for my 2019 iMac and I like it. I have an external SSD and a mouse sitting on mine. The mouse I only use for gaming, otherwise I use a trackpad, and my desk is very minimal and doesn’t have any drawers, so it’s nice to have a little hidden shelf behind my iMac to put it on. I don’t have a 3D printer, and even if I did, the time it would take to design the 3D model to print would be worth FAR more than $45 lol. That’s the real cost of 3D printing… not the material cost, but the time it takes to design the 3D model of the thing you want to print.

I have one of these for my 2015 27" iMac. The iMac is wall-mounted and I the shelf to help store a 10G Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter, Magic Keyboard and Mouse, and some excess cable management. I waited to purchase it until it was $30 though – which was a reasonable enough price in my head that I could justify it. While I do find it incredibly useful, at $45 for essentially the exact same thing (a piece of fabricated aluminum), I too am scratching my head as to how they justify the MSRP.

Exactly. The things I can get my kid to print that are being sold for $xxx.xx is insulting.

However, as my iMac is wall-mounted and has no stand, I have no use for this. ;)

The iMac stands look nice, but they are very unpractical since there is no height adjust. It’s better to get the VESA mount. Otherwise you need a stand for your stand. I don’t think I’ve seen a creative office without a stack of books under each iMac.
