Might sound silly but what really sells me on this case is the leaf cutout for the camera. ********** awesome.

Actually...same here, not only does the leaf look awesome, but it is large enough to not effect camera performance.

We should have our final measurements soon. Hopefully by the end of the week!

Mysterydate,
What do you use to hold the iPhone in the case? I don't really care for the two piece cases that tend to slide apart over time, but really like the natural cases. Thanks

anyone who has the grove case, how light is the wood? on pictures at the site it looks really nice golden brown but ive seen few rl pictures and youtube vides where its rather dark and nasty

We use the thickest microsuede in the biz, as far as I know - and according to the manufacturer. Same as Apple's Smart Cover.

Friction, and ages of messing around with a .001mm here, and a .002mm there. We wanted the bottom to come off easier, as there's a ton of giant 3rd party dock and charge cables out there. Seriously, I was driving people crazy with "this is too hard, this is too easy" We got it pretty dialed in. :)

I'll be the first to say that lighting has a LOT to do with the color of anything really. Incandescent vs fluorescent vs led vs flash vs monitor screen lighting.

That said, all bamboo cases 'grey up' with use. Here's a fresh one, with one we beat on for a month in the middle (this got thrown a lot. Looks on faces are priceless. :), and our white case with Frank.

Photo is a 4S, and all fluorescent lighting.

OK. Are you guys taking custom graphics orders for the 5 yet? Any guestimation on the availability dates?

Right now, we're just taking pre-orders. When we go live with cases, we'll have a custom option, which you can pick. I'm hoping to have cases sooooon.

We want them ready even more than you do! :)

I finally received my Pre-Order discount code today. Now I'm just waiting for the cases to become available so I can apply it to my order! :)

I have a question about the iPhone 5 twig case, will it Have a leaf cut out for the camera like the 4S case? Because on the site it shows a different cut out then the 4S case.

Is there a clear plastic window or something there? No. It will be open, just like our 4 case.

Hey Mysterydate,

Things I want in a case:
- a nicer/softer grip than the naked iPhone with its sharp edges
- make the phone less slippery (so it doesn't fall out of the pocket when driving, or slide around the table with a slight touch).
- thin, light

Things like protections from scratches, etc is not my main concern.

For these reasons, I used to have the bumper on previous models. The rubber on the bumper edges would make the phone less slippery, while providing a softer feel in hand when making calls. Also, it added very little bulk to the phone.

Do you think your case would be a good fit for me? Is your case as slippery as the naked phone when in the pocket, or does the back or bezel provide some friction?

Will your case offer any sort of padding on the sides? Since the iphone 5 has the softer aluminum, I'm concerned about cases scratching the back and sides. Looks like you have the back covered with the micro suede, but I'm curious about the sides.

I think a Twig Case would be right up your alley. It's not slippery, it's got some texture and tooth. If you have some nice heavy stationary paper floating around, it feels like that - just wrapped around your phone.

It comes right out of your pocket, unless you're wearing super tight hipster jeans, in which case you may have other issues. Like getting your hand in there in the first place. :)

We won't have any padding, but start with a wiped down iPhone, and I don't foresee any problems. It's a tight fit, and keeping your case clean with some canned air or a toothbrush should keep the wee little dirts out.

Alright, just pre-ordered. Now you guys hurry up and get that thing ready :)

Also, is there a difference of texture between the bamboo backed and the engraved cases? Is the bamboo backed actual bamboo or is it painted or something?

The camera cutout for the twig case is ingenious! Very clever and well designed. Not a huge fan of "wood" style cases (prefer aluminium bumpers) but this is looking tempting. The gf might also like one for her 4s. I'm alsp glad to see you guys don't have huge mark ups on international shipping unlike some case makers. Might just grab one or two.

It's actual, real life .6mm FSC certified bamboo, fused with our paper Richlite at the factory - no glue.

If you were to feel two cases in the dark, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between our paper and our paper w/ bamboo back.

Any ETA on when the case will start shipping? My iPhone 5 comes on Tuesday and I'd like to get a case ASAP.

What convinced me to pre-order the Twig case was the video showing a 4S iPhone in a case being tossed across a room. The phone and the case were both fine after taking some abuse. Have always liked the look of the Grove cases, but have read too many complaints about them falling apart with normal use.

I couldn't find any images that show the front of the phone for the Twig cases.

Can somebody post one? Obviously the iPhone 5 cases are not available yet, but if anyone has it for the iPhone 4/4s, I'd like to see it.
