Not really. It only takes a single jerk to achieve this same affect. It’s also what makes technology so great. One person can truly make a difference.
Not quite sure what your saying. The world isn’t full of jerks? How did this person make a difference?

Can't believe this is actually an offence in the states. Do we ban nuts in the world? Do we ban lactose as well?

People with allergies have a certain amount of control to avoid such triggers. And they have medications in case something happens.

What do people with epilepsy have? The choice to "not use Twitter"? Not use the internet? That's extreme.

These were targeted attacks using Twitter as the delivery agent, plain and simple.

His point is that one person could be behind a massive attack. It doesn't need to be "a lot of jerks".

And secondly, the fact that a single person can make such an impact is one of the GOOD things about the internet because it enables a lot of GOOD to be done through that.

An example of using or abusing a platform.

thanks. Now it makes sense.

how much sick you can be to do something like this? ok to hack something for money I can understand it, but this? ehhh

Why isn't there a frame-rate limit if this is about flashing images?

This is actually one the very first pranks done in the internet infancy, at that time on an epilepsy forums and not on Twitter. Idiots always lived among us.

No, but we require accurate ingredients on packaged foods, so that people can have a level of control over what they’re consuming. We also often limit the unintentional exposure by not serving peanuts (which have a higher risk of triggering an airborne reaction) in close quarters, like airplanes and school cafeterias.

Intentionally triggering a seizure, in person or via the internet, is the equivalent of deliberately contaminating food served to someone with deadly food allergies.

That's white-knuckling disgusting. These people need to be taken out of society, seriously. Mandated imprisonment or litmus-test driven 'asylums' or something.

May solve a few of the gun issues we're currently facing as well. Wouldn't mind paying whatever cost of taxes on that.

No, its not.

Its bad. Its sick. It definitely needs to stop, with the offending parties getting more than a slap on the wrist.

It is definitely not the same as poisoning someone to murder them.

It absolutely is - not sure what you're even trying to defend. It's deliberate, and some seizers cause permanent brain damage and death. I wouldn't WANT to even live if I had brain damage losing what I have now, so to speak.

Someone can’t die from a seizure?

Exactly.

What kind of depraved person to you have to be to do something like this? I wouldn’t even THINK of the idea, much less actually do it. There are so many evil people in the world today. It is a really sick society that we are living in. It’s disturbing and saddens and angers me greatly.

There are jerks in the world but technology can scale the efforts of one or few to make it seem like there are many more jerks than actually exist. And it works in the opposite direction too to make the work of just one or a few people make a big difference in the lives of many they have never even met.

Didn't they just add Live Photo's to Twitter?

You are right and I was just going to point out that they'll have to turn them off too for the same reason.

Why not just give people the option to display animated images or still ones and then just serve the correct version? Seems like Twitter just wanted to turn them off for some reason.

Not everyone uses the official twitter clients, so for now at least they did the one thing they could to protect everyone. Probably long term they will come up with a less drastic solution.

Jeez, humans can be such dirt bags. Hackers working at this level should just have their doors kicked down followed with painful and immediate summary executions.
