ugh there goes trying to move away from GIF.
idiots ruined a potentially good thing.
What's wrong with GIF? The patents expired back in 2004, the Compu$serve problem is gone.
I mean, other than idiots pronouncing it wrong.

What an utterly stupid and senseless idea, to attack these people with this kind of animations. I am not always into pursuing people for every nonsense, they do on the internet, but in this case the attackers should land in jail.
How can a normal working brain come to that kind of idea? Ok, if there is no brain...
Yikes capital punishment for a computer hack. Did anyone die?
Well yeah, it's always better (if possible) to roll back and fix than to fix in-flight.“We don’t know how to deal with a newer format so we block it.”
It would be too low-framerate to be useful. Disabling autoplay sounds like the only good solution. I'll bet they just forgot to make that work for APNG or didn't realize it's a danger. Why isn't there a frame-rate limit if this is about flashing images?
Not that I'd agree with it in this case, but capital punishment doesn't have much to do with whether someone died.Yikes capital punishment for a computer hack. Did anyone die?
Well-intentioned users may post something epilepsy-triggering without knowing, and I'll bet they're a bigger problem than the attackers. APNG just has to respect the autoplay settings.‘This is why we can’t have nice things’ doesn’t even seem to cover it. What sickos, to try to harm others like that. Smh.
I’m sure everyone will cope without animated PNGs when this is the alternative. But it’s so sad that it’s necessary.
Not really. It only takes a single jerk to achieve this same affect. It’s also what makes technology so great. One person can truly make a difference.

One needs to be a different kind of sick to target people with such sensitivities.

You tell me what would you feel like if you suffered from such sensitivities or your kids did and someone were to target you or your kids in this fashion. Epilepsy is not a joke, and the intent of those who did this is not benevolent at all. It is digitally akin to shooting in the head for people with such sensitivities, in a way.
Can't believe this is actually an offence in the states. Do we ban nuts in the world? Do we ban lactose as well?
Can it happen? Yeah, but in this case the guy was intentionally targeting a twitter feed that would have potential victims.Well-intentioned users may post something epilepsy-triggering without knowing, and I'll bet they're a bigger problem than the attackers. APNG just has to respect the autoplay settings.
Are they dirtbags. Yes. If someone dies because of this. Absolutely try them for capital murder.
otherwise. assault. But no death penalty.
Talk about throwing the Internet out with the bath water. For every jerk or criminal you can name, I can name 100 people that made the world better through their invention or use of technology.yeah, but unfortunately this is never for the good.

The worlds full of jerks. Not a surprise at all.
Twitter said that it was not aware that APNG files had been used
It's unknown how many people may have been affected by the animated images,
Yes, they MIGHT.Someone can’t die from a seizure?
No, but all hackers should.Yikes capital punishment for a computer hack. Did anyone die?
