Twitter seems to fail at pretty much everything they try to do. Vine, Periscope, and now Fleets. What's worse is that other companies took Twitter's ideas and became very successful (Vine to TikTok, Periscope to IG/FB Live)

Did anyone really use Fleets? I know I certainly didn't and I've wasted 11 years on Twitter.

How about getting rid of the endless stream of ads, Twitter?

Easy, just get Adblock. Although if you’re using safari, you’re SOL. :’(

There is something about social networks that are going to make them eventually disappear. People want social networks but they want to be anonymous at the same time, which leads to bullying and everything else.

So, there is not such a thing as a "sweet spot" because, on top of that, everything is about advertisements too, and "influencers" do and say all sorts of nonsenses to generate traffic.

So... you have a media full of advertisements handled by ignorants. Where is the social value? There is no positive contribution to society.

My advice: Stop using every social network. They're bad for you and they're worse for society. Text someone if you want to get in touch.
Too much blanket on that statement for my tastes. My advice: be smart, use it responsibly, and it can amazing tool for connecting with people you don’t know (Twitter for me, in this case). I’ve connected with some fellow musicians that never would have happened without it.

It goes far beyond the local connections and people already in your social orbit than is intimated in you post.

But I guess it’s like credit, some people can’t be trusted, or don’t know how, to use it correctly. So be it. Neither is my problem.

Vine and Periscope were both acquisitions they abruptly abandoned. They are a problem company. They suck up innovation and then kill the product.

Apparently the screen real estate is going to be used for their audio "Spaces" service instead.
I use twitter to see hot takes and take jabs at snobby Hollywood elites. I don't want to hear from some schlub from Tallahassee making a mini podcast.

I really don't understand why they implemented them the way they did. Now that I'm WFH I'm using the web/iPad version of Twitter where Fleets never appeared. I forgot they existed 99% of the time.

@MisterSavage Yes, they could easily make some tweet that will disappear after few time. And put it with another color in order to see it. Maybe put them in the top when we aren't in chronological order
