It is completely ridiculous to believe a worldwide enterprise supporting billions of users managing untold number of servers and lines of code to manage
Will function with less than 25% of their workforce.
But many were predicting that Twitter would collapse in weeks if not days after what's his name started getting rid of employees. Just an observation. Will Twitter fail because the owner is a grifter who takes our money, government money, foreign trained employees and US trained employees and thinks his success is totally his doing.

Just on twitter, somehow I survived, amazing, I only saw tweets from people I choose to follow and I can make a choice if I want to see the comments or not, how horrible, something must be done, how can the world survive like this, you get to choose who to follow and whether you want to read comments, unbeliveable

Enjoy it while it lasts, maybe you can try truth social next, I hear that is up and coming also

This sounds like the whole “android will dominate because it has the larger market share” argument all over again, and we know how that went down.

Anecdotally, I am hearing of users who are getting more engagement on their posts despite having way fewer subscribers. The mood and tone over here at Mastodon is different (mainly because there are no ads and no timeline to manipulate). Ivory is great while Twitter decided to pull the plug on third party apps.

Maybe Mastodon will tank, and maybe it won’t. Either way, I intend to stick with it all the way.

As far I am concerned more options is a good thing but the reality is Mastadon is just not going to replace twitter

I don’t need it to, and I don’t want it to.

The world does not need another twitter.
There are many things the world does not need, yes including twitter and all Social media, but as long I am not forced to use it or forced to follow people I do not want then there is no need to get bent out of shape about who runs it, the things people get angry about are mind boggling, like members of my family that won't eat Ben and Jerry's because they are too liberal, how more ridiculous can you get 😆

Good? I mean, it has a higher barrier to entry than Twitter from a technical proficiency requirement, and more room to restrict problematic accounts and material. Anything than isn’t flooded with bots, racist trolls and scammers like Twitter is can only be a positive.

This is what happens when you layoff most of your staff and think unplugging random servers does not cause the system to go down.

Bet Elon is going to use this an excuse to fire more people.

You need a reality check, Twitter has gone down many times and longer in the past, but that is an inconvenient fact for some people, goes against their narrative so ignore it

And I would also like to add that contrary to belief, mastodon continues to add users over time.

Hardly makes up for this

"By the start of January 2023, Mastodon had 1.8 million active users, down 30% from its peak of over 2.5 million active users in early December 2022
