Well, I have a blue check mark on Twitter! I'm sorry if some people think this makes me automatically blockable, but I got it because I am a (very very minor) public figure, and if nothing else, it stops impersonators trying to do things or get things under my name. That doesn't make me any more important, or my tweets any more worthwhile, but it's just a handy tool to help stop scammers and trolls.

Wow, that sounds like functionality that would be useful for everyone. Surely all I have to do it prove who I am and I too can get a blue check mark. Right?
