Soon we are gonna need a checkmark for the checkmark that is to verify another checkmark.
If only there’s any other badge Twitter would’ve designed to distinguish premium users from official account holder and laymen. I know, Elon Musk can come up with one soon.:rolleyes:
According to Elon then it's called Check-Mate!

Probably sums up the nature of social media and status signalling. 'Look at me I'm important'.
Indeed.

Also, Twitter now has a musky smell and we need All Spice to cover it all up. Musk is just sowing chaos which is not surprising at all.

The blue checkmark will just be a cash grab and the REAL checkmark will still only be for important politicians and celebrities.

Musk is such a little twerp.

I find this hilarious! People can pay for the blue mark, and it's basically as meaningless as a blue mark. Hah!!! It's worthless, it's nothing but a bumper sticker that could fall off at any moment, and is meaningless.

I get the idea of using a fee as a sieve against bots. But anyone with a malicious bot -- whether it is intentionally spreading lies or scams -- will just pay the fee and reap the benefit of apparently increased credibility.

To me, they are really missing the mark. They could provide an identity verification for all users (or some subset based on use). This would permit things like filtering content to only real people. Then again, who in their right mind would provide twitter with sufficient documentation to verify their identity?

Lol. And they have confirmed Twitter Blue subscribers DON’T go through verification ID check.

So now the blue check mark really does only mean you are a Blue subscriber.

Elon dupes his loyal fans again.
He is duping the very dupable crowd that feeds on the “me me me!” social media attention fuel of the SnapTikTakoGrams… whether fans of his or not.

And I’m not a fan, I will never buy a Tesla… I’m just here for the fire show.

Huh, who could have guessed Musk would run Twitter the exact same way he used to run his mouth on Twitter before his staff took away his keyboard? It’s not everybody but pretty close.

And it seems he stole his keyboard back.

It reminds me of "VIP tickets" that everybody can buy to feel special. Those tickets often hardly have any benefits besides having "VIP" printed on them, but they cost a lot more than normal tickets. You could call that an "ego tax".

Amazing. Let’s ruin a perfectly working functionality and then create a new functionality whose purpose is to fix the functionality we just broke.

The problem with the new ”Official” tag is that it is not as apparent as the blue check, meaning most users will still be confused/duped.
That's the problem with The Boss meddling in stuff he hasn't got any idea about. Like UI/UX, HR and apparently more.

Ah ok. Instead of the blue checkmark they made meaningless, there is now a label to distinguish between lords and peasants.

Perfect idea. Some of us here suggested they do this.

Can't see why anyone would find a problem with this.
The "perfect idea":

1. Let’s ruin a perfectly working functionality (verified user)
2. Then let's create a new functionality whose purpose is to fix the functionality we just broke

I mean, it had to have been the plan all along. It's just too perfect.
