that’s not how you work on things on a major platform…
that's how they appeared to do it before elon took over. again, twitter was hardly stable before elon came in.

I was literally saying it’s not like a LAMP stack design…. As to the rest I use K8s extensively at work, but it doesnt solve everything my dude, it’s not one size fits all. Not every workload lends itself to containerization for one thing. And k8s doesnt magically abstract all ops work away, far from it, even on things containerized and running on those clusters.
kubernetes solves a ton of ops problems.

Don’t hold your breath. Elon loves helming Twitter. He loves the notoriety

No breath holding here. But on Sunday NASA questioned SpaceX if Twitter is distracting SpaceX’s mission, so it’s a reason concern. I just assumed SpaceX is his pet project but don’t really know. I can’t imagine he can remain involved in the day to day operations but he’s pretty amazing entrepreneur so who knows.

This seems to be a trait of Twitter CEOs.

Jack Dorsey was the CEO of Twitter and Square... and people had worries about that too.

Maybe Twitter should have a full-time CEO who doesn't have other companies to run.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m sure it’s been said before but really, who cares? Twitter is increasingly irrelevant. Now it’s just a Musk vanity project. The real question is whether anyone should bother being involved with it at all at this point. It’s clearly a cesspool of trolls, racists, white nationalists, neo-Nazis and every other type of heinous outcasts you can imagine. Does it help your product or your journalistic integrity to have this content appear alongside yours? As an individual user does it really benefit you watching people dunk on each other over trivial nonsense?

Most social media has proven to be a net negative to society as a whole and “news” about Twitter isn’t really Mac related enough to warrant headline coverage here.

My two cents only as always.

Exactly. 👍

I'll also add that there are only around 250 million people on Twitter.

But there are around 5 billion people on the internet.

I never understood how Twitter can be considered the "Town Square" when only 1 in 20 people are on it.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It has the potential of solving tons of problems, yes, but it comes with its own big suite of new issues. Not one solution is the answer to it all, and especially not in this context where it is running on their own bare metal.

On one hand I like the idea of it as a better version of medium, substack, dev.to etc. etc. On the other hand, I feel twitter's value is the discouragement of long-form content by making it clunky with bad threading support. It's perfect for short attention span hot takes. I've got better places to read long-form content than twitter. That's for sure.

Given the "quality" of the "content" on Twitter (not just now, but pre-Elon as well, but it's most certainly headed in the wrong direction) the last thing most reasonable people would want to see is more room for drivel, angry keyboard warriors, and just general vapid rapid-fire commentary...

It is the only social network that can actually make a comeback with the right changes to its core workings.

There are other decent things going on at Twitter besides political discourse. It is that, and people not taking things seriously and making a joke out of everything that is the problem.
