Needed Elon Musk money to do a final push for the feature. All it took was some money and a stake in the company to hit the ground running.
gotcha, of course...he joined the board then ponied up bc their projects were totally cash starved and on life-support!

I wonder if Twitter has understood yet that an Edit button is not much worth.

If you edit a tweet, you will have to reset the like counter to zero. Unless you would be stealing someones like.

It is much better for media transperancy, if you just wrote a new one, and deleted or archived/greyed out the old one. But editing it, would create new problems - like peers - forcing people to edit tweets, without anyone being able to see the peer pressure - or analyze it ?

I’m guessing they don’t want to store this much data, but my preference would be for the previous post/edits to always be accessible if you dug in a level or two.

It worries me that we are having such casual conversations about something like this.

I know many find Twitter to be a joke, but almost everybody politically important is involved on there.

It’s actually a really great thing to be able to see some of their thoughts and what they put out there and if editing and changing narratives from the past turns into some sort of manipulation tool for the nefarious folks, we have a real problem
Facebook has edit history disclosure for public comments. It's a decent way to approach the problem.

This is probably worthwhile but it won't change the large number of tweets that are impulsive, vitriolic, and then quickly withdrawn (or now, modified).
Agreed 100%.

The issue with twitter is not the platform. It is the general attitude of the users and those who run the platform. This addition changes nothing in this respect.

Remember when beta testing was a paid (or at least free software-benefitted) task? Now users pay to beta test? Uh. Neat?

I keep waiting to see what peak tech industry user abuse is, but they keep raising the sky.

Don't be surprised when Elon is CEO of twitter and sues his way into being called a "Twitter Co-founder"

...worked for Tesla
