I have a Twitter. I made it then followed the Red Sox and haven't been on since. I just haven't been able to jump on that bandwagon yet. I like Facebook better but as someone said previously, there is a bunch of useless crap on Facebook. And Facebook keeps changing for the worse with all of these chat changes. I don't know maybe I will start actually using Twitter pretty soon if Facebook gets crappier.

I use it because for years I forked out hundreds of £££ running a site for me and my 'wares. Now, it turns out, I can just run a Facebook page and Twitter account super easy all for free. Plus it's a faster way of connecting me to my fans, dislikers and peers.

Twitter is much better than I expected it to be years ago. You don't have to follow bores who only tweet rubbish - you follow topics or people of interest and or create a list, as anjiha mentioned.

It's like a little stream of consciousness. Current events and twitter hashtags can be a little insight into global minds in the moment.

I follow people I like, people I find funny, accounts tweeting things of scientific interest, several accounts that tweet information about things going on where I live, etc, etc. There are also some fun projects on there, such as mostly365, where people all over the world tweet one photo a day and include the hashtag #mostly365 which tags it to appear on this website. There are all sorts.

People who think twitter is dull don't know how to use it.

I use twitter @acemics for many of the same reasons mentioned here. I follow a bunch of people with similar interests; Yankees, soccer, technology, outdoors stuff etc. I also get breaking news, weather, local traffic and metro alerts which have been invaluable. I am also on google+ which I can see being a perfect blend of twitter and Facebook as it takes off and gains momentum. I am very close to deleting my Facebook account because of all of the privacy issues. I have my information pretty locked down, but I still don't trust that it is safe. It is a shame because I have been able to get back in touch with a bunch of people through Facebook that I have lost touch with over the years. I just can't stand all the Facebook "drama"...it feels like most of the people there can't get past their high school years. I see google+ as having the potential to be a Facebook killer in time as long a's they don't screw up.

I use twitter. Began using it just to follow some of my favourite celebrities, but now I have a rather small following of fans myself on it thanks to my novel.
