I just checked the What's in the Box section for both the Sport and the SS with Sport band, the Sport says "Two Bands" while the SS just says "Band"

That's what the general description says; however, they may throw in two Sport bands anyway for the SS model with the black or white Sport band so they don't need separate inventories for these.

So if someone is planing on buying the SS or Edition they should change to the Sport watch just to get 2 fluoroelastomers?

You know what I read the original post incorrectly. For some reason I thought the OP wanted the sport version with a SS band.

The two bands in the sport watch box are different sizes. Because it's the cheapest and most "off the shelf" version of the watch that could even make its way into supermarkets, it's designed to be purchased without necessarily trying the band for size. Just pick the colour when you buy it and then pick whichever band fits best when you get home.

I don't think it means it will have two separate bands. I think what they mean is two bands with the holes in it, one s/m and one m/l

That's not why, and it's not just the Sport model that comes with two sizes. The Stainless Steel and Edition watches also come with two bands for the fluoroelastomer configuration.

You've missed the point here actually. The Watch (not Sport, not Edition) starts at its lowest price with 1 sport band. But the Sport Watch at its lowest price comes with 2 sport bands. So why can't the Watch edition come with 2, is the discussion here.

My bad, I assumed it was coming with two bands as well. I've only been looking at the Sport Watch.

...Oh, nice. A second watch band.

I just had a chat on the online Apple Store. The guy was emphatic that the two straps you get are distinct and separate, meaning that they can be swapped.

Should have defined "bands". That could be separate from fastener ;)

Actually, I did - right at the beginning of the conversation! My initial question was 'Can you confirm that the straps are separate, complete bands, i.e. not one fastener and two differently sized attachments' and then the chat developed from there.

This next bit is odd, though. I just had another chat (same guy it seems) and I asked him if the Stainless Steel with Sport band comes with two bands and he replied 'No, the SS comes with one sport band. Only the Sports watches come with two bands.'

I asked him to clarify that, because I said it's a bit of a coincidence that the one SS sports strap ("Fits 140–210mm wrists") happens to span the same measurements as the two separate ones you get when you buy the Sports watch.

He replied again that it's one band that covers all wrists if you buy the SS with Sports band, whereas if you buy the Sports Watch you get two bands.

Weird!

Same guy? I think he's talking out of his butt. Wouldn't take his word too much.

Yeah, I'm skeptical. Because if you look really closely in the pictures of the SS with sport band you can see the same M/L labelling that appears on the band when you view it on the Sports Watch page and the separate straps and accessories page.

So, if the M/L label appears on the sports band for the SS, then it follows that there must be a separate S/M strap that's not pictured.

OK - this is just getting silly now. I couldn't leave it alone so I started another chat and this guy said that the way he reads it is that if you buy any Apple watch (sport, watch, or edition) with a sport band, you will get two in the box.

He pointed me to the sizing guide ( https://store.apple.com/Catalog/regional/amr/pdf/static/pdf/content/Watch_Sizing_Guide.pdf ) that clearly says at the bottom "Sport Band. Includes two bands—one S/M and one M/L" and it's illustrated with a picture of the stainless steel Watch.

That was both mine and his interpretation. It makes sense to me that the sports bands have been made in two configurations and these can be used across the board. Why make a third sports band that's only to be sold against Watch and Edition versions?

On the sizing guide there's no distinction between sports straps for the three different watches. It quite clearly says Sports bands come in two sizes for 38mm and two sizes for 42mm.

That page is all about straps. So, it would appear, even the Edition watches have two sports straps.

True, but as indicated above, it remains unresolved whether they're two bands and a one-size-fits-all fastener or two complete sets of bands.

Yep, still unresolved. It's pretty poor communication on Apple's part.

Download the .pdf and you'll see it does come with both the S/M and M/L for both the aluminum and SS version. Even the pic showing the SS shows both bands are included.
I verified this with the Apple online chat feature with an Apple Rep.

Another point. Look at the sizing guide again. It says "Includes two bands". I think most people will interpret that as two complete and separate bands, not 'one fastener and two differently sized other halves'. If the latter is what Apple actually means then there will be lots of annoyed customers on April 24.
