As you have photostream, it should've created a monthly backup of all your photostream pictures (as long as you open iPhoto).

No not there either. The photos aren't in my photostream to begin with as it says above.

p.s. I really appreciate everyone's suggestions

Did you read this?

How many pictures are in your Camera Roll? How much storage capacity does your iPhone have? Did you use HDR when taking the pictures? Are you jailbroken?

Edit - Apparently not.. ok no problem. I had your solution, but you are not interested.

If you are on the Mac, try opening the program called "image capture" after your iPhone is plugged in.
By chance, do you see your pics there?

After the reset look through your entire photo library. This happened to me once and the pictures were further up in my photo library, by photos I took a long time ago, where they should not have been. I don't know how this happened, but it did. Hope this helps!

this was it! searched through my photo library and they were months before where they should have been.

guys thank you for all the help. if I didn't respond to someone's post please don't be offended, it's been a crazy couple of days.

thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Glad it worked out. Congrats on both counts. Now that you have the photos mystery solved, go enjoy being a dad. It doesn't get any better.

Quoted before you decide to edit it once again.

The *real* "fix" is below your post (and above this one).

Glad you found them. And congrats.

What I would do now is at least make a copy of those photos, and put them on your PC or Mac immediately to avoid this situation in the near future :)

There were two way to solve this, my method would have fixed the behavior OP experienced and prevent it in future events.

So you knew the solution for his problem even without him answering all your questions. But since the OP, a new father (who on top of the stress of being a new father and taking care of his wife and baby is also stressed about maybe losing all of his photos of the birth) had the nerve to miss your post you decided to "punish" him and not share your "solution". Nice work! That's the spirit of the forums right there!

When I ask, it is to confirm my suspicion. Normally I'm accurate. But yes, believe what you will. I help those wish to be helped.

My wife gave birth the other night to two beautiful twin girls. All are happy and healthy and I'm over the moon.

I have an iPhone 4S, and all the photos I took of their birth, their first day of life, and their second day are missing. Gone. My camera roll goes from the day before they were born to today.

I've researched and tried rebooting my phone, quitting and reopening the photos app and camera app, but nothing works. What's more, my entire Camera+ photo library is completely missing as well (there are photos in here that were separate from the 2 days worth of photos I'm missing in the camera roll), and there were tons of new baby photos in there too.

I'm afraid of restoring... what if that permanently wipes the photos?

I've been able to salvage some of the photos since I've messaged a few out, but I want them all back.

please help guys.

edit:

lots of people are asking the same questions, here's more info. thank you all:

I do use photostream, but the photos aren't there. I don't back my photos up to iCloud because then I would surpass the 5 gig limit and have to pay (I'll start doing that from now on).

I've already plugged in my phone to my computer and the pictures still don't show up, and what worries me even more is that there's no gaps in the filenames. For example, the names go "img_1042, img_1043, img_1044" even though there are two days missing in between.

-------

second edit: resolved! the photos ended up being earlier in my photo library, months before where they should have been. thanks everyone for your help.

see if you had an android phone, and auto upload, you would have had an instant backup of these photos vs less reliable version of it on your iphone..

I take it you're not a father and have yet to experience childbirth. The OP opened the account just to find the answer to his question (notice his screenname?). Don't expect the general public to know what HDR or even JB is.

same here, i took a video and never checked to see if it recorded. Two days later i go to watch it and its gone, i figured i goofed up and the video never recored. I then deleted a couple things from my camera roll and it suddenly appears.

I have also had something similar happen, although the pics weren't nearly as important. I never got them back. Seems to be an iOS bug. Can't remember if I was on 5.1 or 5.1.1, but it was one or the other. Sorry for the loss of your pics, but congrats on the twins!

As a slightly side note this got me to turn photstream on. I also jailbreak so that I can upload to photostream from 3G. If you aren;t taking an exorbitant amount of pics, it shouldn't eat through too much data.
