I was amazed that Apple moved to Intel for heat and after using some of the Core 2 Duo MBPs I was kind of surprised. My i5 MBP runs cool unless I import in iMovie where it hits 180 easily.

I have a MacBookPro that had a death sentence ever since it was made. It's a 2008 march model... apparently the GPU will melt itself off the board!

Sucks!

Does anyone want this iMac? Glasgow, Scotland..

I have no room for it and run my PPC stuff off iBook 500 and Tibook 500

Oh boy! Don't tempt me; I already have 2 iMac G5s, herself would go potty if I got another.
Send me the MBP as I can hide it better :D

Cheers :)

Hugh

Apple offered a free fix for those models long since expired, but I managed to sneak mine in just under the wire by about a week. Since then it has been rock solid, my only complaint being, the new MB they installed will not allow for a reinstall of the original Operating System from the model specific CDs.
My guess is it must see the new MB as a different computer and aborts the install.

Is the serial number properly showing up in About This Mac?

I am going to guess you either have a 2011 MBP or the 2007/2008 MBP since they both had graphics issues.

I am saying that changing the paste is a great way to lower temps, as well as taking care of your fans (replace when bearings start to go). Either a 17" or a 20" is a difficult repair to do just for paste, but it may be lucrative to do. Get some paste on that G3, you are asking for trouble with it.

2011. Name your prize :D

Hey the 2008 MacBook Pro is still nice :D It has the look of the PowerBook with the intel compatibility :D

I still have the dead iMac here if anyone is needing parts from it. The ram on the logic board went bad and the screen is faulty
