Macrumors is flooded with whining about no large screen iPhone.

Apple releases two large screen iPhones and now users are whining about no new small iPhone.

That's nothing. Have you seen a football game? When the one team scores everyone's wearing blue and cheering, then when the other team scores, suddenly everyone's wearing red and cheering again. It's like they want both teams to win. Why can't they decide?!

It might have been said already but how many alleged 6s and 6s Plus parts have we seen? In the last week, quite a few. How many alleged 6c parts? None. Because there's isn't one!!!!

Or perhaps there's been none because of the any number or combination of plausible reasons 6C leaks haven't happened.

You can't really say with 110% undeniable certainty there's no 6C or 6C parts in existence unless you work for Apple or you're 1 of the most "well connected" few

Which I doubt

Bottom line is 6C likely? Not very

Is impossible 6C will happen?
Probably but not 100% set in stone or even set in 7000 series aluminum

The assertion in this article is misleading.

If there is an iPhone 6C, and it follows the model naming scheme of the iPhone 5C then it's identifier should be iPhone7,3.

The iPhone 5 was series iPhone5,X. The iPhone 5C was released later along side of the iPhone 5S (which is part of the iPhone6,X series), but it was based on the iPhone 5 platform so it's identifier is iPhone5,3 (for GSM).

There's no mention of this in the article.

I think i'm probably the only person on the forum that would downgrade their iPhone 6 for a 4 inch screen again. They said id get use to it, I haven't - I still think its too big and unnecessary - and now with my Apple Watch I barely look at the phone screen. Id really like something though with the same power as the 6S but in a smaller thinner size...

It's interesting. I wanted a 4" version alongside the 6 and 6 Plus last year. Ended up getting the 6.

Unlike you, I have gotten used to it. But I'm still not 100% comfortable with it. I do miss the real estate whenever I pick up a 4" iPhone, but damn I like the easy 1 handed use of the smaller handset. I was still hoping Apple would release a 4" version this year. But then, like you, the Apple Watch happened...

Now I'm considering the 6s Plus! As you mentioned I use the Watch for little interactions reducing my reliance on the phone screen. And when I do pull the phone out it's for more meaningful usage and the large screen of the Plus would come in handy (not to mention for things like Sat Nav in the car).

Not 100% made up my mind, but I'm definitely considering it.

iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, and 6c

Its a regular naming convention...

Why can't Apple say "The new iPhone" then everyone will know its different

Their were no leaks at all about the new iPod Touch until a day or two before it was launched. So you can't go by their being no rumours just yet. In fact the iPhone 6C has had more rumours then the new iPod Touch did.

Good point. Though I would expect the 6C to be produced in higher numbers than the iPod touch, making a leak more likely. I'm happy to be proved wrong, certainly have nothing against the C phones as my first ever iPhone was the 5C.

I laugh at people who still whine and moan because they can't get a flagship phone with a 4" screen. Sure you're entitled to your own opinion, but expect to be laughed at and mocked because it's like using a VCR or a floppy disk in 2015.

Really? Every time I see an iPhone 6 in the wild, I'm like "damn, that's sexy!" And this is coming from someone who has one lol.

I hate it, the antenna bands are horrible, like really horrible, the protruding camera, the generic big phone look. The (totally impractical) iPhone 5 in slate grey, now that was sexy (and the original iPhone 4 when it first came out) they were unique, different devices. Id have preferred to get the iPhone 6 in white thats my biggest regret, the Space Grey is rubbish - i'll get the 6S in it if it matches the Space Grey of my Watch though which is much darker.

Beats, Apple Music, Apple Watch and sacking Forstall cannot be declared failures.

They can and they have.

Beats was a politically correct purchase by Cook to try and be cool and garner the black vote. Iovine has been a dead loss, however.

Apple Music has been a veritable disaster from the start and has a pathetically low number of subscribers, even though it's free.

The Apple Watch has sold spectacularly poorly according to the most accurate data we have, supported by worldwide anecdotal data of deserted watch tables in Apple Stores.

Forstall was seminal to the success of the iPhone. Ive's user-unfriendly flat design has undone much of his work and made iOS the worst and buggiest it's ever been since Forstall's departure.

I think Apple should currently offer a 4", 4.7" and 5.5" iPhone, a 7.9", 9.7" and 13" iPad, an 11", 13", 15" and 17" laptop and a 21", 24", 27" and 34" iMac, as well as a 34" Thunderbolt Retina display for the Mac Pro.

This is what the competition always do and what Apple always stayed away from.
Apples focus on few but "perfect" products is what made them great.
They did open up for the a more traditional way of thinking when they released the iPad mini 3..
A paint job to boost sales is a very common thing among lesser brands, I don't want this to be Apples new strategy..

If they start to make 4-5 of everything the quality and inovation will suffer..

It´s actually quite the opposite..

You might prefer the big 5,25" floppy version of a phone, but I prefer the more portable and faster Micro SDXC card version instead..

iOS would be drier than a bone if he were still here. There would be a lack of any eye popping features. Look at his last iOS release for example: A buggy version of maps that failed, and he refused to apologize for it. Other than that, the best new feature was do not disturb mode, and that was pretty much it. I would've given him the ax too if I were Tim Cook. Not to mention the graphics started to look old and like an eyesore after 6 years.

There were also no alleged sixth-gen iPod touch parts. A big part of this was due to the much smaller production numbers of the iPod touch. Meaning there is a threshold in production numbers below which we might not get part leaks (there are many factors at work, so this certainly isn't a fixed number more like a broad range). The only thing we can go by is the 5c and the 6th-gen iPod touch.

Sales for the 5c in its first full quarter (the 2013 Holiday quarter) were estimated to be about 12 million. Sales for the 5th-gen iPod touch in its first full quarter (the 2012 Holiday quarter) were estimated to be about 6 million. Now, the ratio between 6c to 5c sales might be different than the ratio between the iPod touch 6th-gen to 5th-gen sales, but based on this data I don't think we can categorically exclude a 6c (though personally I would bet on a delayed release of a 6c more than on a next-month release).

That comparison doesn't really work very well. For once the 6c will be slower not faster than the 4.7" iPhone (if it follows the 5c example of being a generation behind the top model) and it will hold less data (aka have a smaller screen).

It is more like you preferring a 3.5" floppy disk to a 5.25" floppy disk with the 3.5" disk having less capacity and being slower.

Generally, I have an issue with the cannibalization argument. Apple maintained margins on the 5c versus the 5s. So if we can assume they could produce a 6c that would maintain margins then in effect there is no cannibalization. No matter what they sell, they make the same margin. This means that if they give more options, they stand to sell more phones across the various versions. They make the same margins, but since they sell more total phones, they make more money. Why would that be bad?

Lets hope so, personally I have got used to big screen phones now, but I still hark the iPhone 4 as being one of the best I've ever had, and Apple are definitely missing a trick by not upgrading their small device as their are PLENTY of people that would buy a new updated 4" iPhone.
They can make it out if plastic but give the body the shape of the 6, or something very sleek. I'm not sure if it would get Touch ID though? If it's, for Apple, a cheap price.

I think a new iPhone 6 C could have the smaller 4" display, the A8 SOC, Touch ID, the camera from the iPhone 6, the battery from the iPhone 5S. Bluetooth and WiFi and LTe etc.. and 1GB of Ram.

All of what you're written appears to be based on instinct and blind prejudice. Apple Music has 11 million subscribers, thats 10 million more than Spotify - though I love and hate both equally. Not even device Apple sell has to be iPhone success, in fact that would mean they're making watered down mainstream crap for the masses, very few things that are the most popular are the best - Apple needs more niche products for techies, not to stop making things and only concentrate on the iPhone because it makes the most money, if you're wishing profit over products then that would be a very sad day - my Apple Watch is a far more enjoyable product than my iPad has ever been.

The rest of what you say is opinion, but since iOS became "user unfriendly" sales have sky rocketed. Its a hell of a lot more simple for the average user than most Android skins and there's no way in hell id want to roll back the dated Forstall led design.

It's hard to take what you say seriously if you think that Spotify has 1 million subscribers.

As you can see in my post I was referring to a *4" flagship*, not a cheaper/lesser version of a phone.

And if we got the iPhone 6 in the size of a 5 it would be faster since it pushes less pixels around. Or they could clock it down to match the 6 and just save battery life.. I'm happy either way :)
