After a long while…a return to Colados. Colados, incidentally, is now about 5 minutes from home. One of the great things about our new home purchase!

Oh…17" PowerBook G4 (A1013).

This is heartwarming!

Ya man, its pretty amazing and goes by so fast. Where son numero uno is rambunctious - an assertive & fierce toddler, son numero dos (pictured) is very chill and happy all of the time. About the only time he cries is if he wants to be en brazos or is not getting chichi. That Huggies T shirt was my wife's when she was a baby. Been in the family for quite a while. We'll see if it lasts long enough to make it to when my boys have kids.

Nothing like kids to make you feel old AF and it's no big deal.

All I have time for right now. :p

There is an Apple product in the pic - my iPhone that snapped the shot & posted to MR. But yes, I am a little bored & fending off a rager of a headache with caffeine so the same boy from a few posts earlier only a few months older. He’s going to be crawling any day now.

Building carbon based computers is a lot of fun actually.

My original reason for this thread was to compensate for the fact that I was in the process of separating from Facebook at the time. I used to post the kinds of pics I put here on that site and I'd been doing it since 2009, when my daughter would have been a year old. Of course, she is 12 now and my son is 16 but back then I was making a lot of the same posts you are.

I've got a video of my daughter going after my stuff. I used to pick her up and then move her across the room, but since my stuff was forbidden she always migrated back towards it.

Anyway, enjoy the time. Soon enough their toys get smaller and more expensive. :D

Mine aren't that small any more.

My first post here! This was this morning, after making coffee for the wife and I. I'm back in business now the PowerBook G4 17-inch is all maxed out and I have a new charger for it. Coffee wise I had some Marley brand made in a French Press, I was a bit disappointed really. I usually use our espresso machine but despite being marketed as "espresso" it was a super-coarse grind so I had to make it in the press. Shame, really, as I was looking forward to a proper americano or just a doppio to go with this.

I've got Poolside.fm running on the PB, a nice little 80s/90s style virtual desktop that serves to deliver a radio station 24/7, it's great I really enjoy it. My 16-month old daughter meanwhile, was running around the table while terrorising the dog, she's smart enough to know this ISN'T the laptop that has the Toy Story on it, that's the iBook running Classic ha ha.

Coffee and Macs just seem to go together! :)

We've had a similar experience where we were expecting a specific thing from a brand of coffee and knew right after opening it that we were not going to get it. OTOH, there's some coffee that has surprised us. Burger King used to use Douwe Egberts coffee, a brand from Holland that Sara Lee licensed. I believe you can get it now, but way back when it was only provided commercially in liquid form. It made for an extremely smooth and unexpectedly good coffee. My wife and I used to frequent BK solely to get coffee - until they changed.

Death Wish Coffee is another example. I found out about them when a coworker mentioned them. DWC is our daily coffee now. It's amazing what they can do with a robusta bean, typically the worst quality coffee bean and the reason Folgers tastes so horrible.

Glad your Mac is up and working well and that you were able to enjoy your coffee with it.

Saturday morning…my Mac and my coffee.

2020-11-28 10.50.17.jpg

This particular cup is about a month old (in my ownership). A McCoy 1421, ceramic drip glaze mug. Not exactly what I wanted, I'm looking for a specific style I saw that was used on an episode of Emergency!. It's difficult to track down because that show saw a lot of changes in coffee cups at Station 51 (127).

But it's a nice mug!

Coffee is Post Alley, Seattle's Best. Which is to say, Starbucks, because Starbucks bought them out years ago. :( At least they left the blends alone though.

A retro post…

This would have been sometime in 2014 I think, which predates the first post in this thread. This particular Starbucks has undergone two rennovations since this picture. The current iteration turned it in to a to go location.

PS. My son graduated college in May 2025 and my daughter will be a senior in high school this year. So, that's how long ago this was.
