Tyler, The Creator received a physical Apple Music Award, featuring a custom silicon wafer.

Apple said Tyler had his best year ever on Apple Music, with fans around the world logging more than 75 million hours of listening time between November 2024 and October 2025. His album "DON'T TAP THE GLASS" topped the Apple Music charts.

"To everyone who listens to my music, thank you," said Tyler. "I appreciate you so much. This year, for my career, was the biggest so far. To be this year's Apple Music Artist of the Year, it's sick. I appreciate the love. I appreciate the recognition. It means a lot to me, especially for the music and things that I make. Please keep supporting folks who are a bit out of the box for how they do things; it means a lot to us."

Congratulations to Tyler! I must admit that I’m one of the 75 million hours of music spent listening to him. I’ve been a fan since his early OF days. It’s great to see his growth and the recognition he’s received. He’s a cool dude who truly appreciates the craft of hip hop and music in general. You can tell he puts his heart and soul into his music from his recent albums.

I'll be the second... not the slightest clue what he even does....
I've heard of him, only because of my wife and her TikTok addiction.

Other than that - solidly behind you in all ways - no break out in any way I know of. Sadly, there's an entire list of very good bands with actual talent (based on the electronic voiced comments) that actually play instruments and use their actual voices to sing that get little to no recognition because the loop autotune garbage keeps getting pushed.

Just a short list:
Irontom
Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes
Slothrust
Spiritual Cramp
The Blue Stones
Middle Class Rut
Jessie Paege
Yungblud
Naethan Apollo

A lot of those may be 1-3 hit wonders, but that's the kind of thing I like adding to my collection. Some probably use autotune here or there, and my favorite song might not be yours, but that's the beauty of music. At least all of those have unique sounds and voices, and allow you to tell who they are just by listening.

Had a listen to his various songs there. Seems like a run-of-the-mill R&B/rapper to me. Nothing that stands out and makes you go, "I may not be a consumer of this kind of music, but wow, he's talented". I can think of artists in different genres of music I'm not so into who are that. Perhaps it's a bit ask for that each year, but the world is a big place.

Apple should name an "Artist of the Year" for every music genre. Tyler's kind of music doesn't represent me at all

Another boomer angry that the world is leaving them behind.
Or another lover of actual music that finds the regurgitated tripe of the set of 200 loops and heavy use of autotune because the "performer" can't carry a note that cannot be distinguished from the other 100K similar "artists" as "nothing to see here" material? Just maybe?

Receiving an Apple Music award should give some clue of what he does
yeah but "music artist of the year"? I'm sure I can thinks of a dozen other artists who's names were in the press a lot more this year... and I'm not saying any of the deserve it anyways cus most of it is **** compared to lesser known artists who will never get any attention.
