Feel like a broken record, but once again I'll say "sure would be nice if someone could tell the brass at Apple Music there is more than just one genre of music."
nope, Hip-Hop/pop is all that gets any limelight anymore and generations have been raised on it unfortunately. thank god other genres are thriving in the shadows.Feel like a broken record, but once again I'll say "sure would be nice if someone could tell the brass at Apple Music there is more than just one genre of music."
Definitely doesn’t describe Tyler. All his albums sound differently so much so there are some who may only like one album from him. Like he could have a wildly successful album and instead of doing something similar to repeat the success the next album will sound nothing like the last sonically. He is a very talented creative that stretches beyond just music. He had tv shows and cartoons on Comedy Central and has a very successful clothing and shoe partnership. He has sold out arena tours and his own large festival yearly in Cali. He has a lot going for him that pop stars don’t have but yet he doesn’t have like mainstream songs that top the charts so it’s easy to see why you can’t recognize his talent or really know who he is even if hip hop / R&B were you main genre of music. Watching one of his Nardwar interviews would give you a light hearted look into how intelligent he is musically.Had a listen to his various songs there. Seems like a run-of-the-mill R&B/rapper to me. Nothing that stands out and makes you go, "I may not be a consumer of this kind of music, but wow, he's talented". I can think of artists in different genres of music I'm not so into who are that. Perhaps it's a bit ask for that each year, but the world is a big place.
Actually thriving in the shadows perfectly describes Tyler. Not the front facing media darling or pop star that you hear about even if you don’t listen to their music. It’s a genre that I listen to and I’m still surprised by this pick.nope, Hip-Hop/pop is all that gets any limelight anymore and generations have been raised on it unfortunately. thank god other genres are thriving in the shadows.
Never heard of him, and probably never will. Is that a rapper or just another variation of “The Weekend” or such kind of “artist”?Another "artist" that is nothing more than an electronic voiced singer, nothing to see here.
Spot on.It’s not the music, it’s whether he/she fits into Apple’s image.
electronic?Another "artist" that is nothing more than an electronic voiced singer, nothing to see here.
This couldn't be further from the truth. Dude has had a long and storied career going back almost 2 decades filled with different subgenres. Tyler, The Creator is an actual artist and this is obvious with one listen through his catalog.Another "artist" that is nothing more than an electronic voiced singer, nothing to see here.
Does he do classical music or progressive metal? This couldn't be further from the truth. Dude has had a long and storied career going back almost 2 decades filled with different genres. Tyler, The Creator is an actual artist and this is obvious with one listen through his catalog.
Saying "I need an artist of the year for my tastes" is embarrassing for you. Sorry art isn't constantly catered towards you.Apple should name an "Artist of the Year" for every music genre. Tyler's kind of music doesn't represent me at all
Subgenres* sorryDoes he do classical music or progressive metal?
Every one can be a producer nowadays. Nothing complicated here.he literally writes and produces his own music. do you even know what you’re talking about?
Artists sampling loops is nothing new. It's been around for 40 years dude! Some of the greatest and most influential albums are made with almost no instruments but just sampled loops. Never heard of the Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique?Or another lover of actual music that finds the regurgitated tripe of the set of 200 loops and heavy use of autotune because the "performer" can't carry a note that cannot be distinguished from the other 100K similar "artists" as "nothing to see here" material? Just maybe?
Yeah, somewhat, the guy right after nailed it big time: 👇"United States of America Music's Artist of the Year" is a more accurate title.
It’s not the music, it’s whether he/she fits into Apple’s image.
One beer for this gentleman, please!Yeah, somewhat, the guy right after nailed it big time: 👇
Good god Apple can be so cringe at the most hardcore levels ever.
Such a nice set of well designed long lasting pieces of hardware (some experiences may vary but I still have 14+ year old Thunderbolt Display as functional as day 1 and 10+ year old MacBooks) paired with the most cringe and extremely politically correct image, canned interviews, canned responses, canned announcements, canned everything.
It doesn’t bother me in the least if they want to be hard walled garden, or do whatever they want with their own platforms and IPs, what bothers the most is what they hypocritically reply or announce or justify. It doesn’t come off in the least bit honest.
These “Apple Music Artist Of The Year” choices feel like what the droves of HR, lawyers, accountants, managers and the managers of the managers of the managers came up as the “safe choice to announce”.
I hope it doesn’t happen, but if Apple ever goes down permanently, it will be in part due to the corporate culture tone deaf mindset that has been breeding for the last 10 years.
And it will be sad, but won’t cry about it.
Reminds me of an Office episode: “your art is the most beautiful art of all art.”"Like sugar on my tongue, tongue, tongue"
"Your body is so sweet, sweet, sweet"
That guy.
