I think it will be better on the Mini. I find the spread of the keys on the regular iPad to be a bit too far on the regular iPad. Will be able to say for sure on Friday!

keep in mind the screen visibility will be smaller also, since the keyoard takes up half the screen. If your main use is for notes, I don't think the mini is for you.

IMO, the mini is for travel and a quick email and internet check on the go. Heavy tasks or prolonged tasks such as note taking is for the ipad.

If they just scaled the interface down everything will look the same. Meaning the amount of screen pixels left over is the same as the full size iPad.

dumb question but won't any BT Keyboard work? I know it would be longer but.....

For the most part, yes... any should work. I've used several with my 3. I want to give that Zagg 7 a go on the Mini, if I decide I can handle the Mini screen after seeing it in person.

I am in Canada so to order something like that would typically have to be at a store, etc...guess that size is set to fit the mini perfectly and since it's for my daughter may look odd having a keyboard longer than the tab...

Zagg appears to already have two: http://www.zagg.com/accessories/zaggkeys-mini-ipad-keyboard-case.php#7 though they are tagged "coming soon" I know their iPad 3 version is very good.

I like the look of the Zagg Keyboard case, but I like to sometimes use the iPad folded back on itself (I.e the cover (keyboard) behind the device) if I am having to stand for whatever reason and take notes. - Not sure the iPad one does that, but the mini one might allow it).

What do you think typing will be like on the mini particularly in landscape?

I am thinking of selling my iPad 3 for the mini, but I do use the ipad a lot for typing and taking notes at work. If it's going to be unusable for this then I'll have to rethink.

I have smaller hands/fingers so I'm hoping it will work out. Have any hands on videos or reviews made mention of this?

Check it out here. Just load the images you want onto your iPad and view them in the Photo app on your iPad. :)

If this Zagg works like their others (for the full size iPad), it fully pops off of the iPad. In other words, it doubles as a half (hard) shell protecting the screen when closed. You pop it out and a support piece allows it to be angled so that the set up is similar to a laptop. You can also just lift the iPad off to use it in its native form.

I went back and took a look. It looks like this one builds in some protection for the back side of iPad too. The one we've had for the full-sized iPad is this one: http://www.zagg.com/accessories/logitech-ipad-3-keyboard-case. So I don't know how easily it is to remove the iPad from the new design.

Never really liked the hard case one, I like the one that looks like this:

Worries me slightly popping it in and out of the case - always wonder if doing that too often would cause strain on the case, if that make sense?

Alternatively the Logitech ultrathin keyboard cover which kind of behaves like a smart cover is nice, but offers no protection of the back and I have heard that the magnet hinge is not always great.

Not sure if Logitech are planning one for the Mini.

I think in landscape, the keyboard should be around the same size as the keyboard would be on a full sized iPad in portrait. Maybe a little bit wider but I doubt by much.

Does anyone have the actual measurements to compare?

So the iPad was too big, thus we need a mini to READ. But now we're adding accessories to it like BT keyboards?

Somebody had it pegged in a thread a while back.. "People won't be happy until they have a 10" iPhone and a 4" iPad"

So I used the very helpful images in this thread to try and use the iPad mini keyboard on the existing iPad. From a quick test it seems like it will be quite usable in landscape for me.

Anyone else give it a try?

Yep thanks for this! Very useful. After testing it, it seems the mini may be suitable for typing in landscape. What do you think?

I think landscape will be better than portrait for emails and what not. For iMessages, Web Browsing, or anything else with quick words I think either will be perfect! :-D
