We all know Steve had a keen eye for details. On the home page, I'm sure he's wondering who used a hyphen instead of a proper en dash between 1955 and 2011.

The mistakes have already started. We miss you Steve.

There is no set way to use either, but yes, it should be an en dash to be completely and undeniably correct.

Honestly, It's not that big of a deal. Hardly a "mistake" if you ask me. Being too dramatic, I think.
Btw, I think you should change the title.

Ironic how there's a typo on the OP's title... FTW Grammar Nazis :)

It's not hard to use &#8212 but it sometimes doesn't render correctly thus the dash...

In any other forum, I'd agree with you. But this is the Design and Graphics forum, and designers might just care more about this stuff than English majors.

Agreed. From what I have read, Steve didn't like the gradient on one of the letters in the Google icon for iOS and sent one of his head design people over to Google to make it right. And all over a weekend, at that.

So, yes. No hyphen. Steve would have a fit over this. I believe those were something beyond "dramatic"...:D

The second "o" I google was the wrong shade of yellow. It wouldn't show up very well on the screen, so Steve called the google CEO and told him he was sending a designer over the next day to help them fix it. Steve called on sunday.

I actually found a typo a few years ago on Apple's Benchmarks for the release of new MacPros, and wrote Steve Jobs about it.

A few hours later, he actually responded there was no typo. I checked and it had indeed been revised.

I kept screen grabs of before and after. I mailed them to him and said he was welcome for the proofreading.

Nice. Post the screen shots. Interested in seeing what it looked like.

On the "http://www.apple.com/iphone/" page right after the launch, I noticed someone had inadvertently saved the iphone 4s images as JPGs instead of PNGS as the backgrounds were not transparent. I thought I saved a screen shot or two but I guess not?
