They are in the business of regulating what they want and not what is necessarily good for consumers
Government regulation isn't always (necessarily) good for consumers. That said, democratic government is ultimately chosen and elected by its citizens - and as such, by and large, governs what the populace wants

By no means does government always "get it right" and do good for its citizens. But anyone who believe that they're only doing what they want, I just feel sad for them.
Thank god for everyone that you are completely wrong about this.
How exactly am I wrong about this?
I'm just stating the fact: Government does interfere and regulate lots of things that people "don't actually need"

You may be of the opinion that that's not how it should be, how you like it to be.
But are you honestly disputing that that's how it is, as a matter of fact?

But I bet because politicians are getting dark money donations from the criminals above they are trying to profit from our phones being hacked and users getting scammed.
What other conspiracy theories are you betting on?

Why do the proposed laws always include provisions for security-related exceptions for platform operators like Apple and Google? It doesn't make any sense if it's all due to dark money donations happening in backrooms.

Freedom and liberty always allow for some levels of scams and crime. If you're willing to trade away freedom and liberties for some sort of crime-free totalitarian and surveillance police state, I surely hope your opinion isn't shared by many others.

Don't try this gaslighting with me and then call me bro. Go to your libertarian 4chan forum and call them your bros. I don't play. There are billionaires who don't want to upset my crew. We go deep network.

Don't feel sad. We're all tax paying voters here entitled to our opinions about the things we pay for and vote for.

Sideloading advocates tend to overlook one thing - it paves the way for freely installing horrible apps such as Meta and Google ones, which steals your data and blatantly violates your privacy.

Oh wait.

You may want to look up what the term actually means.

The "bro" was admittedly uncalled for, if it weren't part of your user name. I'll take that back anyway.

You gaslight people who want to protect iPhone users from scams.

You call them "conspiracy theorists" for highlighting politicians who recieve dark money donations from known crooks around the world who have been pilfering money from scam victims.

Yet if you had even an ounce of awareness of these issues you would stay silent and learn some stuff.

When corrupt people like that want to make phones less secure its because they benefit from users getting scammed and spied on and having their data stolen.

But yeah, you keep turning a blind eye.

This is some proper "somebody think of the children" stuff.

As someone already said, if Apple walled garden is the only barrier from such doomsday scenarios, then we have a much bigger issue.

Well, you - very obviously - did not bother to look it up.

I‘m arguing and making my points in very plain words here. And I‘m cool with people disagreeing with them by using reasonable arguments.

Casually throwing out one-word accusations though, of which you don‘t even understand their true meaning? Not so cool. Then again, it’s a public forum, so I can’t stop you.

Some politicians accept dubious donations or outright bribes.
That doesn’t mean that sideloading laws are made because of it.

„Some politicians are crooks - that‘s why this bill should be rejected“.
Is that honestly all of the argument you‘re coming up with?

You didn’t even attempt to show any causal relation here.
