His administration, his responsibility. Trump's hardly a beacon of either personal liberty or personal responsibility....
Has nothing to do with ITAR violations. Like I said in another post in this thread, I don't agree with the way it is being done.

Our worthless [I said:
Trump administration[/I] you mean.

Nope, the Federal Government in general. King Donny is da best thing could happen to us in the past 20 yrs!
I'll take Donny any day over anything that crawls out from the Left-wing.

Most people probably did not read the article completely. No one wants the US demanding personal data and certainly not from a company you use. I'm on the fence with this one...I understand why ICE/US govt wants the info but Apple and/or Google complying opens them up for future requests. If I had to pick a side I'd have to stand with Apple & Google and say no... regardless if it's a security issue for the US

This surely has to be denied. Otherwise whats next?
How about USA determines the real problem and stop selling guns to anyone? How is it that that the rest of the world can see that USA has a gun problem and yet the NRA lobby still protects their "silly" amendment?
So no, please Apple deny this.

You do know this is not true? You cannot just go down to the local 7-11 and pick one up. There are background checks, no guns if convicted of a felony, etc.

On the app....let's hope Apple keeps all info private as it is about the only thing left that I like about Apple these days.

Edit: The US is number one in gun ownership, and number 100 in murder rate.

If one actually reads the whole article they will understand why ICE wants a list of those that DL the app.

Not a chance Apple will give up this info.
It’s way too broad and indiscriminate a request for Apple to comply with it.
[doublepost=1568046206][/doublepost]
There is 0 reason for apple to give this information. People in the US Have the right to have as many assault weapons as they want, for whatever reason they want
For the purpose of killing other people?

We understand why. Still, there are procedures in place to prevent abuse by our government. ICE can plead their case before a judge and get a court order for Apple and Google to release that data. No court order, no compliance. The 4th protects use from illegal search.

I'm not a gun owner or do I have that app. I have no dog in this fight. If we don't speak out when our government tramples on the rights of others, I fear no one will be around to speak out for us when they decide to trample on our rights.

DOJ has filed a request for a court order.

From the Macrumors article:

An order filed from the Department of Justice requests info on people who use Obsidian 4, an app that controls rifle scopes made by American Technologies Network Corp.

From Forbes:
According to an application for a court order filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on September 5, investigators want information on users of Obsidian 4, a tool used to control rifle scopes made by night-vision specialist American Technologies Network Corp. The app allows gun owners to get a live stream, take video and calibrate their gun scope from an Android or iPhone device. According to the Google Play page for Obsidian 4, it has more than 10,000 downloads. Apple doesn’t provide download numbers, so it’s unclear how many iPhone owners could be swept up in this latest government data grab.

Time to log in to my four separate Apple Store accounts via VPNs from non-US locations and download it... Just to **** with the dataset a little should Apple be compelled to provide it. (No, I don't have the scope, and hadn't even heard of it before this.)

We could all put a damper on this. How about everyone downloads the app. I don't have a need for it, but it could help to make the data useless. :)
Haha! I have a feeling Apple and google will both tell the DOJ to pound sand anyway.

Just finished downloading the app although I own no guns. I urge everyone to do the same and help pollute the data.

Don't have time to do the research right now, but I highly doubt that. There has been an uptick of a particular type of crime, but overall the rates have been dropping. You're simply a victim of the MSM.

I'd love to see that statistic, but in my experience, no they don't. In certain parts of the country, it might be likely a lot of people have them for hunting or home security. Other places are much like Europe (as you say) where they are rare. (Well, then there is Switzerland, where everyone has one?)

It was there to help guarantee the rest of the rights! Is that somehow over now? Please explain!

But, you didn't address the rest of my comment. The guns have always been here. What changed?

Just FYI... the NRA was actually the group who developed and promoted the gun restrictions in the first place. They also advocate proper training, etc. I think you're confused a bit. Again, as above, a victim of the MSM.

But, yes, the proper procedure would be to remove the amendment from the constitution. The people pushing the anti-gun narrative know there is no chance of that (at least in the short-term, until they've had enough brainwashing time via the media and schools), so that's are trying other sneaky methods.

Let me fix that for you... we're well past that. The fishing expeditions are now trying to find people who they think might do something wrong someday!

Of course, we have our former CIA director (Brennan) who said recently, "People, you know, are innocent until alleged to be involved in some kind of criminal activity." So, times, they are a changing...
(I doubt that was a slip, but indicative of his thinking. And, note, the interviewers don't even question it, or seem to catch it!)

I'm not sure that is actually the case. My understanding is just that the licensing involved makes it so expensive, few have them. But, yeah, the MSM regularly misreports that, calling anything and everything assault weapons and confusing semiautomatic with automatic, etc.

It sometimes seems that the masses are ignorant of history and/or even a basic ability to think more than a few moments into the future from their present state of being. It's like... 'Everything is kinda OK for me right now. Sure, go ahead and take my rights away.'

You are correct, and i suppose my fault for speaking broadly on a topic such as this.

The laws are so strict in “assault” ownership, 10s of thousands to be able to get the permit. Renewed yearly, only use in special places. No transfer, no hand down. no one else may use it. Additionally; when you die. So does your the guns legality.

It is such a small # i bet it doesn't register in gun violence. Only collectors who are of moderate to high wealth.

The “assault Weapons sell, (when they do). For 50-100k.

This is not mass shooter materials.

Government requests the identity of everyone that downloaded a Bible app.

People who drive cars and drink alcohol also contribute to 100% of drunk driving deaths. So I suspect you’d be ok with the government peeking into your life since I’m sure at one point in your life you’ve driven a car and drank alcohol. Also read an article where they surveyed inmates and 100% of them had seeked out to look at pornography in their lives and one point or another. Does that mean the government should go look into everybody’s lives who at one point or another have viewed pornography? It’s a slippery slope once you start painting everyone with a broad brush.

Cars have more than one function. Not only can they be used for homicide they can also transport people. What is the alternative function of guns?

Guns have many of functions. Self defense, sport shooting, hunting, protection from a tyrannical government. (see my previous post) which is the main reason for the 2nd amendment. What function does pornography have other than to objectify women and sex?

All of those functions of guns are the same.

Pornography, even the ones that objectify men, is art until used otherwise.

I suspect and definitely hope that Apple will refuse to give over this information.

However Apple also says they comply with law requests..

This does seem like this app would assist/help... As soon as you you bring "illegal" and "export" in the equation, it starts to change the scope of things.

No, not really.

However that doesn't change the fact the a cars kill a LOT of people why does it matter if it has some other purpose. I would argue that it makes it worse not somehow better that we are willing to allow that. We all know if a Bar has parking lot that someone will most likely have a drink and climb behind the wheel otherwise if that bar was busy that parking lot should be mostly/partly full the next morning.

Exactly the dude is a clown. I know one time specifically at a gas station having my gun on me didn’t get me jumped and robbed. Two guys were on their way over to me. I lifted my shirt and tucked it behind my gun and sure enough the guys immediately started in the other direction. Did I kill anyone? Nope, but it avoided a potentially very serious problem. Homeboy also says porn is art. I’d like him to look at everything thy makes a Glock, 1911 and or AR15 work and tell me if that’s art or not. Those can just easily be considered art if he says porn is art.

Didn’t realize sport shooting involved killing someone or something. I’m sure CNN told you that at one point though.

No. Really. All the same function of guns. Your attempt to dodge that doesn’t change anything.

What is sport shooting? There is nothing about shooting that makes it a sport.

Don’t talk about nudity like it is bad but murder is ok. You justify holding the power to kill by calling it “protection”. That’s terrible. Smith and Weston is just another division of RJ Reynolds.
