In the box
iPad
Dock Connector to USB Cable
10W USB Power Adapter
Documentation
The adapter in the box charges the iPad over USB 2.0. Apparently if you want to plug it into the wall, you need to purchase the accessory. I have an old iPhone wall charger. I'm thinking it will work...?

But apparently 10W USB Power Adapter is just like the one I already have for my iPhone??

dock connector to usb sounds like the usb cable to me.

Geez it's not that difficult.

"Dock connector to USB" is the USB connector on one end and the iPhone/iPod/iPad connector on the other.

The 10W USB power adapter is the "wall wart" that plugs into the wall. One side plugs into your local wall socket, the other has a USB hole.

This is not rocket science.

Edit: the only additional thing you get by ordering the separate accessory is the extension cable (much like the Apple laptop extension cables where you pull off the local plug/blades/prongs and attach the extension cable). I doubt the iPad ships with an extension cable.

The adapter in the box plugs into the wall. You take the USB cable (also included), plug it into the adapter, and plug the whole thing into the wall.

Sure, but you won't need it.

EDIT: Looks like the commenting system is pretty slow right now. Others have already responded. I guess there's substantial interest in the iPad after all?

Pickup

Does anyone know if they are going to keep track of the number of people who can reserve for pickup on April 3rd? I'm just wondering if I reserve now but get there and still can't get one because they are all sold out.

Reserved a 32GB/wifi model for in-store pickup on the 3rd (woo-hoo!) and pre-ordered a 32GB/3G model for whenever that ships. I figure I'll find something to do with the wifi model once the 3G arrives. Probably give it to my wife.

Of course they will, that's the point of the pre-orders. They are going to use the numbers to allocate correctly. Apple is usually a master at chain supply management.

In for the 16gb WiFi. Will get Applecare within a year.

Going for the 32 WiFi but I am not going to pre order. I want to feel it in my hands first.

That's what I figured.

I have a 64gb Wi-Fi model on order right now.

However, I'm moving to Montreal (from Maine) over the summer and I'm trying to find out from Apple if I can just take out the AT&T SIM card and put a Canadian carrier card in once they release plans for their iPads up there.

Anyone on here know anything about this? Is the technology there and I'll just have to wait on a carrier?

Apple customer service to me on this topic: "You should be alright. The iPad is unlocked." So that's good. I had heard that, but I just wanted to hear it from them.

Just cancelled my pre-order and signed up to pick up at the Apple Store. I think this will be much cooler to get in person than wait for that FedEx truck to show up.

It says I have to pick up the iPad by 3:00 PM or it's gone. I'll probably be there by 7:00 AM just to be sure.

i did the same thing - i didn't see the reseve button so i purchased it - id rather go to the apple store (which is down the street from my apartment) and pick it up - much better than waiting all afternoon for the delevery truck. plus didn't they say something about a gift if you get it at the store.

Same here. I reserved one at the local Apple store for pick up. This way I can check out the demo model and if for some reason I don't like it I can cancel my registration.

Thats one helluva commute!
I was all set to understand up until you said "leave for work", meaning I thought you work at home but with a British company, When you say "leave" and they being 6 hours ahead, makes it sound as though you commute each day to England??

Please Do, Explain

Haha, no, I work in our office in the US. I don't go to London very often. Believe me, that would be a really crappy commute.

Apple says the device is unlocked, but the catch is that it uses the new micro SIM cards, so it depends on whether your chosen carrier can provide one for you.

I first preordered but I will be cancelling that. I will pick up in the store instead. It says 9 AM to 3 PM, I will probably get there around 10 or 11, then pick it up, and visit my parents for Easter. Much better than being held hostage by the Fedex delivery man all day!

I feel sorry for all the Fedex delivery guys. People will be going crazy waiting for them, practically outside with cookies and milk, like they are Santas.

One thing I am concerned about, is Fedex sometime don't deliver at all and would put up a bs report saying the customer wasn't home. I would be calling Apple and Fedex and bitch at them until they get Jobs to deliver it to me personally.

I almost pre-ordered it first because I didn't see the reserve option, then just before I clicked the place order button I decided to navigate around a big and finally found the appropriate page.

I thought about a 32GB but just went for the 16GB instead. It will suffice alongside my 16GB Iphone 3GS.

Hmmmm. I wonder if I want to do the same. That seems pretty reasonable to me. They did give a large pick-up window for the in-store reservations. It didn't seem like first-come, first-serve. Hmmm.

Yeah, my apple store won't open until 10AM so I figure I get into town half an hour before, get some breakfast and head on over. Can't wait to see what the line will be like.

Just got my pre-order email from Apple. Now that's funny! I also got my order confirmation from Apple. Whoo-Hoo! Wish I could go into cybehibe until April 3rd. Ha!

I see there is no discount for education or government. Free shipping is good and usually with the standard shipping, Apple will ensure it arrives on the 3rd of April.

The bad part is that sales tax will be charged and for the 64GB wifi version this can be between $60-$70 depending on where you live, making the total between $760-$770. I prefer to pay use tax on my annual tax return since it is much cheaper and permitted in my state for internet and mail order purchases.

Since it won't be available until 3rd April, and I'll be busy toward the end of the academic semester with teaching, I can wait a few weeks more and order off of Amazon.com with free 2-day shipping and no sales tax.

Confirmation email from reserving one from an Apple store?

Did anyone get a confirmation email when reserving one at their nearest Apple Store? I haven't yet & when I tried to reserve another, they told me I can only reserve one per email.
