Ebonics???

I'm not entirely sure if this is the method my friend used but check out this URL:

listen apple does things for a reason, the dropped mobile me yesterday so they could relaunch it when the time was right....meaning the iphone situation was cleared. They have always had problems with servers, like when they first released the beta for the iphone, the site crashed each time.
they underestimate the number of people who are going to be trying to download this stuff......remember its apple, they do things for a reason. have there been any reported problems with the software??? i think not. so dont blame then with the issues. they do things for a reason. Now your service issue...thats all ATT. nothing to do with apple.
the unplug and replug isn't necessary. just quit itunes and then keep opening it so it will recognize your touch each time. that's what i did with my iphone and it worked
Apple has done this for a reason, huh? So they are intentionally incompetent? Wow, that really makes me want to buy their products...
If they have server problems time after time, that's THEIR problem and they are responsible for it. Apple is completely to blame for this--period. If they have insufficient servers, then they need to beef up their system. This isn't rocket science, people.
And this is not an issue of "underestimating" anything--Apple seldom underestimates things, and this is the 2nd iPhone launch and what Steve was quoted as calling "the biggest launch of my career." They knew this would be huge, and they dropped the ball. Period. They are 100% to blame and should be ashamed of themselves, and will not only get a LOT of bad press from this but will likely loose some buisness, as well they should.
These problems are not intentional, that would be rediculous.
So all the AT&T locations selling the iPhone in my area sold out shortly after they opened (there is no Apple Store in Dayton, OH).
They said they are NOT TAKING ORDERS--contrary to what MacRumors states in this article!
They also said they have "no idea" when more phones are coming in, how many will come in, etc.
I also completely fail to grasp whydoesn't ship more iPhones to stores (or why the stores don't order more, if that's the problem). The store I went to had 20 this morning. Give me a break! Even if they were stuck with 500 iPhones that didn't sell this morning, they KNOW those will sell within the month at the very least. I just don't get this. And please tell me that
isn't pulling a Wii here, because the result isn't "buzz" it's frustration.
iTunes 7.7 with iPhone 3G 16gb
At first itunes was giving me the could not connect error. Now it says it's accessing the server and then I get a timed out error after only 30 seconds. Anybody else getting this? Any way to change the time out time limit?
People bitch and piss and moan at Apple and AT&T being unprepared... but read this... why in the world if all this stuff is so important, would you even try to do something that's not proven and true... Maybe you should have been prepared yourself and had a backup plan before you go bashing AT&T and Apple for your own impatience.
Work for Apple much? How is Apple's inability to predict the number of people who would be trying to access THEIR iTunes store to download the software update NOT Apple's fault? They know EXACTLY how many 1st gen iPhones are out there and they know EXACTLY how many 3G phones could potentially be out there. Assume 1 connection for every single one of those phones first thing this morning and be ready for it - to be prepared for anything less is just negligent and has NOTHING to do with AT&T. This is Apple trying to monopolize the news cycle with a giant event again - otherwise they could have rolled out the software update to existing users yesterday and avoided this whole problem.
This is an enormous problem for Apple. THey've spent months building the hype for this update - primarily among existing users - and plastering "JULY 11th!!!" all over everything they can get their hands on, and then can't deliver? If this were any other company this would be disasterous. But as usual, everyone will forgive them because the product we'll all get (EVENTUALLY) will still be amazing...
I updated my iPhone 2G to 2.0 about an hour ago, and after about an hour of trying, it is now activated! It is syncing my music now. Can't wait to try it out!
So, looks like things are improving!

Being an Apple product it's not surprising that they keep the bulk of the stock at their own brand stores. As for how AT&T distributes their allotment, obviously they have their internal sales figures for how the first iPhone sales went so I'm guessing they'll send more to the stores that have sold more historically.
