Then, why are you yelling at Bono about it? That obviously is a glitch that wasn't supposed to happen. Did he program itunes/iOS/macOS?

I'm sorry, I forget where I yelled at Bono for anything. I was simply stating that you're wrong t have the "didn't happen to me, ergo didn't happen" mentality. I doubt it is a glitch, either. Some people have it set up for their music to download on their device. They then get an album they didn't ask for an it downloads automatically.

Then maybe they shouldn't do that? Besides, I don't think that is how that function works cause i have that turned on (that if I buy something it gets downloaded to my other devices) and I still had to go find it and download it.

Anyways, it's still not that huge of an inconvenience. Search "Songs of Innocence", delete all songs. Done. For a few extra seconds uncheck them from the playlist if you have it set to play streamed songs to make sure it doesn't play.

People are making a huge ass deal over something that was supposed to be a nice gesture honestly. Even if I didn't like U2, hell, if it was Hootie and the BLowfish (who I detest), I would have just said, ew, deleted it, and moved on with my life. I certainly wouldn't be having a hissy fit over how much jerks Hootie were (I wouldn't even consider them jerks for it at all, I just don't want their music on my machine).

He finally admits in a round about way what a narcissist he is. It should read:

Oops. Um. I'm sorry about that. I had this beautiful idea and I got carried away with myself.

I am prone to that kind of thing. Drop of megalomania, touch of generosity, dash of self-promotion, and deep fear that these songs that I poured my life into over the last few years might not be purchased, relevant or be heard.

I am totally paranoid of becoming a washed up rock star and wanted to appear to be this benevolent soul giving free music away while Tim Cook was really giving me hundreds of millions of dollars for Apples right to give it away. After all its really all about the money isn't it?

Search "Songs of innocence" Uncheck boxes from songs.

There, that took less than a minute.

Oh really? see how long it takes to do what you suggest on an i-phone "if you are one of the folks who opt to stream their music rather than store it on the device, and don't want to fart around with playlists"

Congratulations, America. You've forced an apology from someone who gave you something for FREE.

There's a big difference between giving something for free and forcing people to take it. If my doctor was giving free rectal exams, fine, I have the option of availing of it, If I wake up with his hand up my ass, that's a different story :)

I've never been a fan of Bono, or U2 for that matter, but I respect the fact that he's a musician and in a well respected band. I'd have absolutely no problem with them saying "Here's a free album, all you have to do is click this link", but them putting their music on my personal device.

You're absolutely right. Something must be done and quickly. It's of dire emergency. If we don't stand up and protest immediately, we're headed for certain doom of having free iPhones, free internet, and omg they might even give us free unlimited calls and texts. We all need to come together and protest now. The alternative is I'd be forced to have more of my hard earned money available for other things.

Grabs pitch forks and hands them out. I will not be forced to live in a world where everything is free. I will rally my brothers and sisters to save the world from ever having such luxuries.

You're deluding yourself if you think any of that is free. Apple paid for the album on your behalf, and the cost is included in the price of every Apple product you buy.
Apple is not a charity.

I realize they have the power and legal ability to do these things. But they should have been smart enough to not do them. You're right, they're a business. And when they do things their users don't like, that's bad for business.

I'm pretty sure you'll find the vast majority were very pleased or at worst "meh"... not bad for business AT ALL.

Congratulations, America. You've forced an apology from someone who gave you something for FREE.

Oh, another guy who blames America for everything. Don't paint Americans with a single brush. We're not all the same. It was rather silly to drop it on our phones and such but I personally didn't care.

I'm sure Bono will be equally laid back and understanding if someone hacks into the audio feed of the next U2 next concert and inserts 3 minutes of George Formby playing "little stick of blackpool rock" at random intervals into his performance. For free obviously.

So people should have to make up for something they didn't ask for? Please stop being an apologist.

I wonder what Apple's real relationship to U2 is...

I've never 'gotten' U2's music. It's just my musical taste, I guess. But I think quite a few others agree with me.

So it makes me wonder about Apple's relationship with Bono and U2. Bono, I can see in a way. He's an ambassador, of sorts, and a good guy. I just don't like his singing or music.

But Apple has rewarded U2 with a MULTI-million dollar payday (up to $100 million in some reports). I would rather have had that amount of money go to several different musicians for Apple to bestow their music upon me, one of whom I probably would like more than U2.

Not satisfied. I want to punch that no talent ass clown right in the throat for poisoning my iTunes. U2 sucks! It really pissed me off only because of my hatred for Bono.

no talent ass clown...wtf have you done in your life thats even minutely comparable to what he accomplished? thats right, NOTHING. Hater

You see, there you're still missing the point. You still didn't get the HIV for free. You paid to contract... Errr.... I mean receive it. So not a free gift. In your case, you paid for something harmful and life threatening, yet complain about a free gift that was not physically harmful in the least.

In my example you paid for sex and received something extra you didn't want. Learn to read.

Bono is a cool dude. This thing was completely blown out of proportions, and U2 didn't deserve such a huge amount of criticism at all IMO.

I didn't like how their crappy album appeared in my album list without my permission. That was forced.

Bono confirmed yet again that he is a gigantic douche.

ohhh so why aren't you and the rest of the haters b&tching about native apps that can't be removed from iOS? OMG its the end of the world for whiny a$$ Americans that can't possibly have something given to them for free without their bloody 'rights' coming into play. IT WAS FREE.

----------

That gift went straight to trash, where it's supposed to be. Didn't even bother opening it.

then delete it and shut ur trap, like the rest of your whiny-a$$ b&tches. Don't need to let the world know about your negativity

You hit the nail right on the head, Anova.

Many people complained about that too. For example the Newsstand app that couldn't even be moved into a folder.
Also if they started pushing bloatware from 3rd parties, I'm sure quite a lot of people would complain.

He doesn't get any more pleasing to look at does he, old Knobbo, sorry Bono. Why doesn't he start wearing a mask? - he'd do us all a favour.
