150+ Posts on MacRumors Thread After U2's 'Songs of Innocence' Downloaded 2 Million Times After Promotion For 500 Million iTunes Customers

Nope. I just had to click "download" once, and I got the whole album. Did you go into "Purchased Items" within the iTunes Store? I found the album there, waiting to be downloaded.

Not sure what you're nopeing. You agree that it didn't automatically show up in your iTunes library as Apple said (and as it seemed to do for some people).

For me, going to the album in the store just showed "purchased" with no way to download.
The store menu "check for available downloads" showed nothing.
In my iTunes account under purchase history it didn't show up (and still doesn't).
Not in the purchased tab in the iTunes sidebar.
I did finally find it via the "purchased" quick link. And even after that it still didn't show up on my other mac that shares the library via iTunes match.

Facts:
(1) Apple inserted streaming and download links for U2's album into every iTunes user's "purchased" listing.

Did you even read the article or thread? Your first "fact" is wrong already - some people had that but others had it downloaded automatically. What you list is what apple should have done, possibly what they tried to do but didn't get right.

Maybe, maybe not. Out of those billions, so they may not have iTunes or running water.
Not having electricity or recording gear doesn’t mean they don’t have music. So maybe half of them may swap their cattle skin drums for U2?
What? Okay, now this is going nowhere. You're drifting way off, mate.

The only reason this album was free is because it is shockingly bad and the public would not have purchased it.

It is horrendous.
Hey can I borrow that magical crystal ball you used to make that claim? I'm trying to decide if I'm in the right major or not.

Hey you're right, why would they complain about 1 ton of free horse manure being dumped into their front garden? It is free, if they don't like it, they can just shovel it away...

It auto downloads for people who have the option enabled.

What? Cleaning up a ton of manure is one thing, clicking a delete button is not that difficult though.

it took me nearly 30 minutes to delete this junk from my itunes and iphone. all the help guides out there didn't help as this virus was just persistent.

it would have been better if they would have released a promo code to get the album instead of downloading it automatically on people's devices like mine. I dont' like U2. i didn't want that ****. if it were a Beyonce album then i would be all over that.

Apple's looking to create a "magical" experience. They want to create a unique experience by sharing music with the world. There's nothing cool about a code. They want everyone to wake up and have a new album from one of the biggest bands in history to be waiting under the old Christmas tree. But not everyone wants a shiny, red bike.

I don't do illegal, but thanks.

I may be naieve or ignorant, but what is racist about the username?

ghostface = cracker = honky = peckerwood.

LMAO.."Ghostface" is the character from the movie series Scream. Are you implying the entire movie series is racist? Me thinks you are confused. I believe the racist term you may be reaching for is "blackface", but just having "face" in the word doesn't make it the same.

Here I will educate you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghostface_Killah

Perhaps you should don the stage name "Spookface Killah", since you are so gullible.
