Version 2.0.7 finally out the door. Icon is implemented (set via Bar>Menu>Use Icon).
But best of all... Hold the Control key and uBar becomes an Activity Monitor. This took several hours but was worth it

Fred Hall.....and thanks! With all the fast revisions and glowing comments I'm going to have to finally install and try this out. One question, this is pretty much a straight "app" - correct? It doesn't have any crazy hooks into the OS where it modifies system files or anything (like the old "haxies")?

Absolutely, this is a straight-up App. It doesn't modify anything - quit it, it's gone, trash it, gone forever. The welcome screen will ask you to enable Accessibility, which is an API it uses for the window management, and will helpfully offer to reposition the Dock for you, but you can do it yourself.
It can't be on the Mac App Store because sandboxing rules don't allow Accessibility, and tons of other things that would make it virtually useless.
But it is developer-signed, and pure as snow
I just realized - We have App Nap! So most of the time the CPU usage of stuff is showing up as 0%.

Yep, I noticed this too. Everything but the current app is 0%. Pretty cool feature to keep things fast.

As for my problem to seeing those windows when clicking on the application rectangle in the uBar, it was a problem not having the latest OS X 10.9 Mavericks version installed.
Once I move to OS X 10.9 Mavericks on my main machine, or even OS X 10.10 Yosemite, I will strongly consider purchasing your application though.
Now let's get some money for the power to not be shut off.
Oh, did you somehow manage to make it run on 10.8? It uses 10.9 APIs so yeah the result could be weird.

No, I was testing it in a OS X 10.9 Mavericks VM in VMWare Fusion. Am not ready yet to upgrade to Mavericks on my desktop computer, as does not offer anything I need. OS X 10.10 Yosemite looks like a different beast though and I probably upgrade to it near the end of the year.

Yup next step is customizing the uBar menu (Preferences window gets another tab).
Idea is to be able to check on/off the current items but the current "blue folder section" would be based on contents of a folder (can be aliases to folders, etc)
How does that sound?
Kinda have to see it in action to get it. I get the first part, but not the second.
Basically in the preferences you click a button, which takes you to a folder. You can add aliases to anything you want in that folder, and the contents will show up in the menu.
Ah, right. Why not make it so it just lets us search through our hard drives and select whatever? It just seems overly complicated.
Another way could be the Spotlight system prefs panel way, but that seems more complicated, although more powerful.
Selecting folders one by one by open dialogues seems slow.
The spotlight way is the only other one I can think of.
Aliases in a folder is very Mac OS Classic (and easiest to implement). Like the Startup Items folder, etc.
It's slow, but I think people would prefer it.
Have a think about it, leave it for now.

How can I put Launchpad in the favourites? I realized today I constantly click the Launchpad icon in the original dock to get to my apps screen, however right clicking the app and "Favourite" isn't possible because Launchpad doesn't appear in uBar.

Yup! Go to Applications, select "Launchpad.app", right-click it, go to Services, and then "Add to uBar Favorites".

I am liking it so far. Trying it just now. Only thing I am missing is a quick way to access my documents and downloads folders, whose location used to be near the trash icon in the dock. Am I doing something wrong or is this feature missing?

2 ways to get to those:
- uBar Menu. Click uBar in the left side and Documents & Downloads are in the menu.
- Favorites. Right-click your Downloads & Documents folders in the Finder (one at a time) and go Services>Add to Favorites.
Drag-drop to Favorites and re-ordering of those is on the todo list for next week.
