That sucks. I never used it but was glad it was there when I would be pretty far from my car or home when going out for a run with just my watch that I can get an Uber straight from my watch if I got into some sort of trouble and couldn’t walk/run back.

“We are no longer supporting…”

Hmm, they obviously don’t have anyone to even help check over grammar and punctuation… It makes sense that they can’t afford to keep the watch app if they can’t afford decent testing.
Considering there’s more full stops/periods in your quote than the entire actual message, I suspect they had the 15yo work experience kid write it. (Insert emoji)

I’ve never used Uber, but this pattern is disappointing. It’s also disappointing that Apple itself still hobbles the Watch. For example, I cannot control my Apple TV with the Watch unless my iPhone is within Bluetooth range, and I cannot control music playing back from my iPad. I often go around without my iPhone, just with my Watch and maybe my iPad. It’s also strange how my HomePod mini is in some ways more powerful than the Watch. It seems that Apple is afraid of people not buying iPhones, so instead of making all devices as capable as can be, they restrict certain features from certain devices just to force us to continually use them all.

I live in the UK, never had a problem with Uber and since they have been around have never used the dodgy "traditional" taxi services.
Sometimes there’s a vacuum of driver availability which means that you get an allocated driver that never turns up. Then there’s the demand pricing which is quite frankly terrible.

I walked 8 miles a while back because I wasn’t going to pay £76 for the Uber fee at 1AM.

And don’t get me started on Uber Eats or their worse than miserable border line illegal customer service.

The Apple Watch is great for fitness tracking and notifications but there aren’t many good third party apps for it.

Tesla Control
Audible
Maps on a cycle
Weather
Walkie talkie
Remote for appleTV
Various Homekit Apps
Hue Lights along with above.
IFTTT
3D Printer control

Uber appears to have silently ended support for its Apple Watch app last month, and multiple Uber users have noticed that they are no longer able to hail a ride from their wrists.

Curiously, Uber has not removed the Uber Apple Watch app from the App Store. The app is still able to be downloaded and installed on an Apple Watch, but opening it up reveals a poorly-worded message about dropped support, ending with a sad face emoji.

Uber has not updated its support site to reflect the change either, even though the app has been unavailable since around December 8. As with the App Store entry, the support site continues to suggest that the Uber app can be used to summon an Uber ride.

The Uber Apple Watch app has been available since the Apple Watch app launched in 2015, but it always had more limited functionality than the iPhone app. It did not support uberPOOL, fare splitting, ETA sharing, or contacting an Uber driver, which could be why it's now been discontinued.

Uber is now suggesting that Apple Watch users swap over to the iPhone app to request an Uber ride, but it is not clear when the Uber Apple Watch app will be removed. It makes little sense to keep it around, and the messaging is confusing.

Uber competitor Lyft pulled its Apple Watch from the App Store back in 2018, and has not offered Apple Watch integration beyond notifications since then.

This is annoying

All I want is visibility on where th driver is. Ordering from phone is fine. But let me get location updates etc on the watch.

THIS

I also believe we're only at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to "no longer supporting the iWatch."
This was how Windows Phone 7 started to fail. They came out with a lot of apps, and promises of more to come, but then the existing apps started dropping one by one. I wonder how Apple will approach this, given that the Microsoft way didn't work.

It's disappointing that as sales of Apple Watch increase, 3rd party apps are REMOVED!? Another example, Hue. Back in 2015 we were able to control our lights from our watch. In 2022, we can't. Such progress.

Well that's down to Philips and their useless coding team. Their own app can't manage multiple hue hubs properly ( you have to manually switch ) but a lot of the third party ones do that seamlessly, as does homekit.

A load of the third party hue apps have a watch app too.

They might as well discontinue the watchOS SDK. What's the point? There's nothing in the App Store for Watch.
