Makes sense to me. Here’s my SE 2020. I'm using twice as much, but I've also got twice as many videos. And all of those videos are shot directly on the phone, not from elsewhere.

What video resolution are you shooting in? 1 minute of 1080p 30FPS video on iPhone is about 130MB of data. So even if every one of those 1114 videos were only 1 minute long, that's over 144 GB right there. 720p 30FPS would be about 67 GB - but again, that's assuming every video is only 1 minute long, and I'm sure that's not the case.

I'm set to shoot video at 1080p, 30FPS. I am sure that most of those videos are less than a minute, but not much less.

I typically only use about 30 GB of storage, but seeing the 128gb modelled sold out everywhere, I had to bite the bullet and pay an extra £100 for 256GB because impatient lol.

I just checked my storage on this phone, I have 5 pages worth of apps, 10,000 photos, 500 videos and a tonne of downloaded music. I’m at UNDER 20GB!!

I think a 64GB could have sufficed for me lol.
How can you have 10K photos, 500 videos and downloaded music, but less than 20Gb used? Doesn't seem reasonable..I have 2 pages of apps, 14k photos, 1K videos..no downloaded music and 200GB used.

Dunno. I posted a screenshot. Weird thing to flex about tho even if I was lying, don’t you think?

Then I don't understand how it's possible you're only using 47 GB, especially once you factor in your 10,746 photos, 822 songs, and 128 apps.

All my music is lossless and some high-bitrate - 12 albums for me often takes up more than 20gb all by its lonesome.

Yikes. I'm SO glad I've been using 128Kbps mp3 files for ages and have never been able to tell any difference from the source.

I use iCloud Photo Library. Every photo and video I take is uploaded to my iCloud account and shared with my home Mac. iCloud (and my Mac) has the full resolution of everything. I have the phone set to be optimized: it only has lo-res versions. If I want to look at a high-res version on my iPhone, it downloads that from iCloud (and holds onto it for a while).

That helps, but that's still seems like a lot of 1080p video for only 47GB total storage used. More power to you! LOL!

Do you have 500 one second videos? That’s cool. And all your photos were taken with a potato from the 90s and transferred to your phone or your phone is just full of thousands of low quality memes. Otherwise your claims defy storage physics.

Impatience is expensive.

You're effectively paying £100 just to have the phone a little sooner.

Each to their own, but that'd be wasted money IMHO.

So let me get this straight, you’ve made up your mind that you couldn’t wait and spent an extra $100. If a 100 bucks is a problem maybe you shouldn’t of bought the phone to begin with. Then you had to post your frustrations here. This could be a comedy bit. Did you really need the phone?

Wow. That is low quality for sure. If you don’t hear a difference to lossless, maybe that’s caused by the earphones in question.

128kbps MP3 sounds identical to CDs to me. I don't hear any loss of quality until it gets below that. I've listened through all kinds of speakers and headphones over the years. I guess I just don't have golden ears like some of you apparently have 🤷‍♂️

You don’t need golden ears to hear how horrible highly compressed 128kbps files sound. It doesn’t really matter now anyways as most people stream Apple Music, which is now at least CD quality lossless or higher.

Not sure what to tell you. My entire music library has been 128Kbps mp3s since I started ripping CDs in the early 2000s, and I've never looked back. Sounds the same as the CDs to me. Over the years, I've read similar disparaging comments such as yours about mp3s and always just shook my head. I don't get it! Anyway, works for me and saves me a lot of storage space. Apple considers 128Kbps mp3s "good quality" and I agree. I guess "good" is good enough for me.
