It's simple. Apple will fix that when it's willing to pay the store as much as the companies making Android phones are for each phone sold. It has nothing to with stores being biased against Apple, the stores are interested in making money for themselves, not for Apple.

Didn't realize regular employees got a cut of the carriers profit.

That's exactly it.
I know phone shops in the UK operate on commission for pushing certain brands whereas the iPhone is a set price.

They do yes in some markets.

No, but employees keep their jobs by selling what the store makes money from. Or did you think that store employees are there to find the product best suited for you?

1. The numbers are from the same report.

2. Apple doesn't sell low-end phones, I think you meant mid-range. A range in which Android phones are outselling iOS phones 10 to 1. And based on those numbers and the high-end numbers (1.7 to 1), I'd guess that Android is selling quite a number of high priced mid-range phones.

3. On its own. That was a mistake years ago with the Macintosh, and it's still a mistake. The difference now is that Apple has a lot more money, so the company is going to go belly up anytime soon despite what some seem to believe. But Android is gaining, has surpassed iOS in a number of metrics and continues to surpass iOS in other.

Edit:

4. There has been earlier reports that one third of the Samsung phones sold are high-end. With 74.3 million phones sold, that would mean that Samsung sold 24.5 million high-end phones. Samsung has been losing market share, and the question is if it's in the low-end range, mid-range, high-range, or evenly. (if it's in the low-end and mid-range, then that would mean that its share of high-end phones have gone up) But lets assume that one third is still correct, then the 24.5 million is about 5 million less than Apple sold. And Samsung did that ON THEIR OWN... ;)

You do realize android is an os and they have a multitude of different oems that make phones. And android is free. You also realize that a 11 month old iPhone 5s is outselling the s5. And yes Samsung is missing quarterly targets on their own lol.

Again I don't see how every iPhone outselling the previous one being in danger. I don't think a 5.5 is this year but if it does come a 4.7 and 5.5 iPhone will sell like every iPhone before it, meaning even more success and adding to their 150 billion in cash they have.

It's not Samsung phones vs Apple Phones. If a user is getting the same experience on a Samsung high-end phone as a HTC or Sony high-end phone and can transfer the apps bought/downloaded from Google Play between them, then the brand doesn't matter. It's Android vs iOS.

Android is free and only Apple can use iOS. So? Different business models. Clearly letting anyone install your OS worked a lot better for Microsoft than Apple, and it seems to be working better and better for Google against Apple.

The market is still growing, I would hope that the next model would outsell the current model.

Remember when Jobs told us that 3.5 in was enough? Apple is now reacting to the market instead of telling the market what it wants.

Microsoft has $80 billion in cash and sold 7.4 million phones. Clearly cash isn't everything you need. Though Microsoft isn't going away nor is Apple, or Samsung for that matter.

How so exactly?

That would be Chrome and Office. Both are better on Windows.

Oh, I just realized whose post I was replying to... Nevermind.

If Chrome and Office is all the software you love.... yeah I think Windows would undeniably work great for you in that situation. I wouldn't disagree Office is pretty horrible on a Mac, and I feel sorry for anyone who has to use it. I don't think the Windows version is exactly awesome though either. :)

Thankfully I don't have a professional need for Microsoft Office and Safari/Chrome is a great browser combination for me on a Mac.

Last I checked Google (Android) is still the second tier development platform and they trail Apple (by quite a considerable margin) in both profit from Android as compared to iOS as well as overall value as a company.

So how is it working so great for Google?

As I said before comparing PC/Mac to Android/iOS is totally inaccurate. PC was never the second tier platform trailing Mac for its entire existence like Android is to iOS. People have been predicting this "fall of Apple" or "Devs switching to Android for their huge marketshare" since like 2011. 3 years later and we're still waiting for doom. It's getting old now. But I suppose if you predict the same doom year after year then at some point down the road you might eventually become right. Doesn't appear that 2014 will be that year though.

Again android is an os that oems use as a base to put their skin on it. You get a different experience in samsung vs lg vs htc. It's not android reaping those profits from phone sales it's the manufacturer. Apple knows this. Control hardware and software for maximum profit margin.

Microsoft has about half the cash as apple. Put that in perspective. Apple isn't going anywhere so what's the point if this thread?
